if you are coming out (Diana Ross) to los angeles this summer; don't miss Sunset Junction in Silver Lake August 21 and 22. I just heard the guest include on stage Ashford and Simpson, and Stephanie Mills!!

Sunset Junction is a street fair and anything goes!! -- they have a website; use your search engine "sunset junction + silver lake."

Hope to see you fans out there. I am calling Valerie to make sure she sings Spookey's favorite song, SILLY WASN'T I!!

Believe I'm Gonna Take This Ride,

Spookey
Saw Nick and Val last year and they were in great form, and with a great band too. Shame that they can't get it together for another album on their own label...there are some wonderful songs that they wrote for other poeple that they could breathe new life into themselves.

Boy, I remember wearing the grooves off the cut "Love Woke Me Up This Morning" by Valerie Simpson.

I know nick and val are truly soulful but thats what hurt them in the long run ... if they would of sang in the style of marvin and tammi, and the latter day peaches & herb "Reunited," they could of hit bigger!!

Nick and Val sang their oldies the way; they wanted to sing them!! -- I guess thats where they goofed but I liked them anyways!!

IMHO, They were the highlight of the African American Heritage Festival in Baltimore last weekend. None of the other acts could compete with their catalog...nor the names they dropped, like Berry Gordy and Ray Charles. I've never seen a bad Ashford and Simpson show. I wish they could've played another hour.
