Do the DARN thing!! Cash Money Classics who signed Teena Marie, have just signed Gerald Levert & Keith Sweat too!!!! Ronald & Bryan Williams aka "Slim Tha Don" & "Baby Birdman" may be mostly rap, but they know and respect the "old school" talent. Congrats to the new addition at Cash Money Classics. Who woulda thunk it, Teena, Gerald Levert & Keith Sweat, all on the same label!!:-):-):-) P.S. "A Rose By Any Other Name" feat. Gerald Levert on Teena's album is a smoker!!!!!

Now I get it, now I see where's he's coming from, oh now I see. Then if other rap and hip hop labels
will follow Bird's lead, i guess the rest will follow. With Bird's move he'll be a trailbazer and an innovator.

Now....let's hope that James Ingram, Peabo Bryson, The Manhattans, Tyrone Davis, Bobby Womack, etc. can get deals (and/or major distribution). (On the same tip...I'd love to see David Peaston get a 2nd shot...with Eli at the helm. He's got the chops...just needs to be shown the best way to use them.)

And don't forget about my girls Cheryl Lynn and Gwen McCrae. I wouldn't mind hearing them singing some new material as well.

I gotta give The Birdman and Cash Money Records their props. They realize that there's a whole audience out their that's not being given quality R&B. Way to go Cash Money!

Sounds to me that this Cash Money label is turning into a the US answer to the brilliant UK label Expansion Records.
Glad to see that somebody trying to keep real music alive in this world of Avrils and Eminems! ;-)

Hello everyone,

I didn't know that Gerald Levert didn't have a label deal. Didn't he just come out with a CD some months ago?

Peace!

Funny that the Hip-Hop Haters haven't posted to this thread. Bet they'd rather these artists never record again than to be 'blemished' and 'stained' by association with Cash Money!

Cool Ju, let's hope that they would not be that shallow!!! It is just like "race", not all black, white or people of any other race are bad! People who see only negative things in music, people or whatever, sometimes ASSUME that it/they are all the same!! You know what happens when we ASSUME!!

Personnally I do not care who they associate with as long as this doesn't affect the quality of the music they will put out...
Of course if they had to become hip hop artists.... well.....
But based on what I am listening to right now (the great Teena Marie CD) they can keep it rolling in that direction...
I think if Cash Money started this thing it is because he must have liked their original sound very much, so his goal couldn't have been to change it drastically and and make them blend into todays lame sound...
So it's not about 'hip-hop haters' but about good taste and respect to the people who showed the way... and that is exactly what Cash Money seems to set out to do...
So props to him!!! As far as I am concerned he can sign dozens more... LOL
Just goes to show that (like Charise pointed out) there are intelligent people everywhere...

'I'm Still In Love'
'The Mackin' Game' because Medusa sings on that one... ! LOL Hey Medusa you never told us about your collaboration with Teena LOL
