Well although I haven't heard the album in full yet and only had demos of the singles, to me this is some of their best work from 'PHOENIX RISING' can wait till here the album in full.
Produced in part by Steve 'the scotsman' Harvey of Impromp2 fame.
Stand out tracks include 'MR FIX IT MAN'
'STILL TEMPTING'
'SOMETHIN SPECIAL'
'YOU'RE SO NESSCERARY'
'LOVE TO THE MUSIC'
'LOVIN FRIENDS'
The album is being very well received throughout the music community and if all goes to plan this could be a massive hit for the group.
I urge everyone to go out and buy this album I have only heard demos and small snippets of the full album, but that alone is enough.
There will be a full review of the album on my website some time next week http://www.seanlivesey.com if you haven't got it go out and buy it this album is a true testament to the legacy of TEH TEMPTATIONS.
Has anyone got their copy of the album if so what are your thoughts on it?

Sean I bought it yesterday and although I have'nt finished the entire CD, the best I've heard so far is Fifty Fifty Love (a gem)GC really powers this tune, like the old days when the tempts would sing like they knew the record was a hit and they flaunted it.......Dennis squalling, Ali wailing, David soaring.....Eddie Crooning, Paul pleading..........ya'll know what I mean..

The track listing is as follows
1. Still tempting
2. Round Here
3. Stay Together
4. Something Special
5. Fifty Fifty Love
6. Love 2 The Music
7. You Are Necessary (Wedding Song)
8. Mr. Fix It
9. All The Wrong People
10.Baby Its Me
11.Why Cant We be loving friends
12.Never let you down

I have heard all the sides except 9 through 12 and I am not impressed. When I check those I'll get back to you. I have come to expect more from these guys than what they gave me, but it wasn't all bad. It was on sale for $9.99. I think if they had stayed in the vein of 50-50 love this would have been a monster, but Otis seems to be experimenting with Terry and its clear that GC is the front man....oh well as the group Portrait would say....Here we go....again.......I wish I could be as optimistic as you "young one" and I truly hope this cd does well for them...but I don't think so.

Gotta admit that's the first bad comment I've heard about the album. But if it isn't for you that's fine.
50-50 love although I enjoy seemed lazy production wise the rest of the album from what I've heard is miles out front.
But like I say everyone is entitled to their opinion

Hold on, I didn't say that it was bad, I just said I expected more from such a beloved and venerable group. The Temptations have always experimented, when it was timely they were very good at it, Cloud Nine/Song For You/All Directions, when not they suffered/Bareback/Hear To Tempt You/Awesome. This CD falls somewhere in the middle. You note production, I note style, its all good. By the way....the lazy production you note could be because the seemed to have sampled or looped "Scarface"'s riff from Mind Playing tricks on me for 50-50 love.......but the point I was trying to make remains, "they sang"...with Tempt flair, style and gut bucket soul. Those are the Temptations..at their best....

Oh yes I agree with you on 50 50 love the vocals are fantastic and when they are in such form they are at their best. (When i said bad comment perhaps I should have said first that wasn't as favourable)

I got the CD LEGACY and put it in the radio CD player. On came "Temptin' You." After an hour I had played nothing but that one song, over and over again. I am not good at picking out the words of a song. I hear some and like them and then become so immersed in the sound that I forget to concentrate on the lyrics. But I'd love to have someone write down the whole lyrics to "Temptin' You." I like the phrase "Eddie's voice would sail and soar." I'd love to see a video of that song with clips of all the Tempts through the years.

The album is very good. There's something about those voices together that leaves me in awe. Those Temptations harmonics are unsurpassable.

Hey All,

Hey janebse. Now you know I'm all up in this conversation now. You just don't say! Otis and them - gave Eddie K. a shoutout? How wonderful. I'm so glad. I can't wait until I hear the rest of that song - "Temptin' You." Temptin' who? I do declare!

And......Eddie's voice would sail and soar. I am listening to him now - "Fading Away." Too much!

Thanks y'all for the critiques.

LEGACY is really good. And it reminds me of the early Temptations recordings with the leads going back and forth within a song. It's not a case of a lead singer with backup singers. It's The Temptations back in force. The harmonies are more dominant too. I rarely sing along with a song, but I am to LEGACY. And Ron, who might not be said to have a definite lead, is in and out of the songs, a la Eddie, putting finishing touches or the frosting on the cake. Whatever, he is making those songs something special. And this is a case where all the songs are good. I think most people like "Temptin' Still" because of its message. I no sooner think I like one best than I play another one, and, no, it's the best and so I go.

Here are some of the word about LEGACY I am hearing from fans:

Legacy is a new clasic.

LEGACY showcases the group not just one lead singer.

LEGACY is what tempts fans have been waiting for a long time.

Otis Williams and Kendar Massenburg should be proud of producing such a good product.

"Still Tempting" is a fine tribute to the original tempts and anyone who's ever been a tempt. There has to be a video of this song.

"You are necessary in my life (The Wedding Song) is a work of art. The accapella intro is the tempts at their best. If they do this song live, it has got to be done as it is on the CD.

LEGACY lets everybody know why they are a group called the legendary Temptations.

Every song on this CD is good. Something that truly lacks in today's music.

"Motown" has to get behind this project. Perhaps "Motown" can finally see the light. The Temptations "Legacy" CD could start a trend of record companies releasing quality music again.

If you have never bought a Temptations CD/album you should buy "Legacy". You will not be disappointed. You will be playing it for a long time.

Temptations Forever!

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto Janebse !! My sentiments exactly. I haven't heard such a cohesive Tempts project in many a year & I love 99% of what I've heard. It's not perfect...but better than most of their output of the last decade (or two). On the downside, I find:
(1) The mix is too hot on at least one cut...and the voices have to try to compete w/ the instrumentation.
(2) Joe just "ain't" no Melvin (but, I guess...who is ??)
(3) They lack that smoothe, cutting falsetto that only Eddie and Damon brought to the table.

But I love "Legacy"...and if I close my eyes I almost hear a somewhat "subdued" Dennis in there somewhere. (LOL)

I for one was very disapointed, the material is very good, it does highlight the group and no one lead singer but... it just doesn't sound like Temptation material, it's like they're putting a Tempts vocal stamp on it, trying to make us believe it's them...but they failed... overall it's not them, with the exception of maybe two songs, that will never be hits or remembered anyway. G.C. Cameron, who I've admired for many years, sounds as if someone in production has pointed out to him that he must maintain the Temptations "Legacy" of pass lead singers and sing and pull his notes as hard and powerfull as possible, this to me has resulted in his leads sounding strained and manufactured to fit the group, quite unnatural, he doesn't sound like he's being true to himself as a vocalist (listen to all his pass work). Frankly, my personal opinion is they should have stuck with Barrington, vocally he was a better fit...this in no way means he's a better singer than G.C. just a better fit to the group and Barrington's power is alot more true to his natural singing style and he gave them more creative freedom to experiment and expand their song list. The CD's "Awesome" and "Earresistible", shows the different types of material Barrington can do, even if those 2 CD's won't be considered classic's either, but yet I do enjoy them both. The new bass Joe Hernon, is magnificent he sounds alot like melvin and a upgrade over their previous bass singer. Being a life long fan of the Temptations, I'm sure as I listen to this CD more, I'll come to hear more that I like.....but it's gonna take time.

Dam.......NY-Dell your post sounds very familiar,(smile) I am listening to Legacy now and....... well...I realize that I'm in the minority on this subject but I'm just not feeling this CD as an example of their best work. I dunno, it certainly has their signature sound but they come off to me as pandering to the Old time fans with very lame material. Earesistable was cool by me, but Awesome stunk.....oh well you never know with the record buying public. Oh my my dog 1Wicked...whats up cuz....are you really serious ? There is absolutely no way this album can compare with Earesistable, Awesome maybe.....ah... forgetaboutit........:-) !!!!!!

Kdub

The other day someone posted about Reunion going for over $300 on ebay if memory serves (Wonder B ?) anyway today I checked Amazon for the album when I realized they had added tracks on the CD, and what do I find : the Tempts marvelous CD "Truly for You" for $125.00 .........not today my friends, they can have it, I have the tape, LP and a CD recorder...I'll just make my own thank you and save about $124.00 smackeroo's

I know I'm late on this thread, but I just got to hear this album, my two cents? goood stuff!! the group as a whole sounds more sure of what they want to achieve and appear to be having fun doing it BUT, ya gotta take off your "C5" headphones and hear it to enjoy it on its own merits, JMO! BTW, GC and Terry are ROCKIN' on "Round Here"!

Just heard this CD and I think it's great!!!! For as much hate as I read about Otis, he has to be given credit for being able to maintain this level of excellence thru all the personnel changes for the past 40 years. I just heard "Something Special" on the radio here in South Florida yesterday and was amazed by the fact that the Tempts are still putting out fresh new music in the 5th decade of their existence and it's still getting airplay. I can't think of many groups that can lay claim to that fact. In reference to the CD, my personal favorite is "Still Tempting". IMHO any true Tempt's fan has to be moved by this one. As I read earlier in this thread, I too would love to see a video made for this song. I can just see video clips of the "Classic 5" "movin and groovin" to the lyrics and music of this great song. The thought of it sends chills down my spine!!!! Congrats to the Tempts, my all time favorite group!!! Temptations Forever!!!!!!!!
