In Women Of Motown, Lynda Laurence says that Sundray Tucker, her sister, took Cindy's place in Bluebelles--Ive seen pics of them post Cindy and pre-Labelle and no Sundray; also Ms Lynda says she came close to being a Vandella!!Then again she says she was offered a million dollars to be a star in Australia. |

Maybe Sundray was in the Bluebelles for a few weeks after Cindy left but it certainly didn't take them long decide to continue as a trio. She certainly wasn't with them when they toured the UK in '68 and I've never heard of them recording with her. And when exactly was Lynda supposed to have been considered as a Vandella ? You'd think Martha would remember, wouldn't you ? FRom Martha's "Dancing In The Street" biography "I had a fit when I saw that a trio of fake Supremes were touring Europe. Although Jean Terrell, Lynda LAwrence and Scherrie Payne were each employed by Mary Wilson in the 70's as her Supremes I don't think they should be allowed to use the Supremes' name to bill themselves" That's the only mention of Lynda Lawrence in the entire book. "A million dollars to be a star in Australia" - yeh, right. I take it that wasn't US dollars. Davie |

Actually Davie it was at LEAST a million per La Lynda. Yes I thought the same thing per Martha's comment---and Lynda's boast/comment. I wish Ms Martha would also include Roz and Anette again, especially considering her comments about other groups' members and originals. |

Sundray Tucker also recorded a couple of well-known Northern soul tunes for Veep under the name Cindy Scott ("In Your Spare Time", "I Love You Baby" and "Time Can Change a Love"), as well as a duet with Bunny Sigler for Neptune ("Conquer the World Together"). Best, Mark |

Hello Submarine again, friends! Also, according to some explainations by Bobby Eli here in SDF, Sundray Tucker recorded the beatiful ballad "You Bring Out The Best In Me" as the duet Derek and Cyndi (PIR or TSOP, ?) in the first 70's. And also with Bunny Sigler on Neptune, "Sure Didn't Take Long". Peace & Soul Food |

From reading Patti's bio, it seems as if the original group (before they recorded) was Patti, Nona, Sarah, and Sundray. When a lot of their time was taken up with rehearsing, the girls decided to drop out of school. Sundray's father disappoved of that, and pulled her out of the group. At that point, Cindy came in. Reese Reese Reese! As usual, you have the answers...I was about to say the same thing! How are you? As far as Lynda almost becoming a Vandella, maybe she tried out between the time Rosalind was let go and before Sandra Tilley..just speculation (I also have the book:The Women of Motown). Handsome |

Hey Handsome: In Mary Wilson's second book, she also wrote that Sundray replaced Cindy in the Bluebelles. Perhaps as someone else posted, Sundray filled in for Cindy for a few dates. I remember reading an old Patti article (perhaps in ROLLING STONE) where she said that they did audition girls to replace Cindy. But they stopped after a drag queen showed up. |
