I read in the latest Entertainment Weekly that Thom Bell was involved in the lastest album by teen singer Joss Stone. The cd is called Mind Body & Soul due out September 28. Eli do you have any info on this project? Yoyoshep. |

Hi Shep, More than likely, they recorded some of his songs, otherwise I have no further info as of yet, but I will stay tuned. |

The album is just being reviewed in papers here in UK...apparently Lamont Dozier and Nile Rodgers are among those involved in the project but no mention of Thom. The songs are mostly written by Joss herself (with some assistance). The album is getting mixed reviews, mainly that the material is not strong enough and this is a so-so follow-up effort. A recent concert appearance also drew mixed opinions with the general view that she will get better with time (and experience) |

All the hype aside, I don't think the debut album set everbody alight either. I struggled with it as did many others. I agree with Mike,if she's still around in a few years from now, she may have matured in stature, and experience. |

I was reading another review of the Joss Stone Mind Body And Soul album on the internet. The review stated Thom Bell arranged the strings and horns on a song called "Spoiled" co written by Lamont Dozier. |

The first album apparently has sold 500,000 in the UK alone and 2 million worldwide. Not bad going! Makes you wonder if more experienced and talented artists had the same chance as her, what they could come up with. The best part of her success is that it gave a great opportunity to Betty Wright and some members of the old Miami /TK crew. What would Betty have done with those songs?....take it home girl! |
