I got a glimpse of the studio credits of Anita Baker's current release, which a part of it was done Barry Eastmond's East Bay Recording in Tarrytown, NY, but a distinctive amount of it was done at Soup Can in Detroit. I got on the studio's webpage, and does anybody have a great detail about Detroit's newest shop?

By the way, if you have any aduio streaming as I am making this post, go to www.kusf.org for "The Soul Kitchen." .

PS: It airs Tuesday nights (Pacific time) from 8-10 pm. Treasures Untold form 11 to midnight. Enjoy it well.

Hi Motesartsound,
Soup Can Records is owned by Atanas Ilitch, son of Mike and Marion Ilitch. From the article I read in this week's Crain's Detroit, Soup Can has been around for five years, about the same time Atanas was diagnosed with cancer. At that point, he left the company business and took time off to decide what direction he wanted his life to go. His recording studio, which is supposedly state of the art, has been used by R. Kelly, as well as Anita Baker, and other local and national artists. He supports local talent, and has a management company as well. The article will explain it all!

Hey Millie:
Thanks for the little info on Soup Can. I got a look at the studio's tracking room, and it is a bit far smaller than United Sound.
So to speak, is the neighborhood still horrific within the USS territory crime-wise, even with close access to Wayne State U., as well as new owners of now?
