It still seems strange to me that an artist can be better served with releases outside his home country.
Such an artist has to be Eddie Parker. Many of his US releases are harder to find than 'foreign' issues of the sides. Thus he had 2 45 releases on the French Googa Mooga label and even his Ashford single must be much easier to find on UK Grapevine than on it's original US inking. Of course it is even easier to get on its recent UK 'Ashford' release (a 45 on which it is C/W I'm Gone").
I do not believe his deep gem on Miko ("But If You Must Go") ever managed to escape outside of the US but it must be a side that warrants inclusion on a V.A. CD in the near future. I guess if this does happen we will have a UK or Japanese company to thank.
The easiest to find of Eddie's releases must be his Prodigal 45 "Body Chains" (it was released twice on the label) whilst his "Can't You See" has already made it onto a CD release (was the 'From Detroit Comes Sweet Soul' CD a legit licensed release?).
As Eddie will be performing live at next March's Prestayn Soul Weekender here in the UK (along with Lorraine Chandler & Melvin Davis), I guess interest in most of his releases will pick up again this side of the pond.
