I recently found a few DVD's which some of you might be interested in. First is Tamara Dobson in the sequel to Cleopatra Jones. It's here (it hasn't been released in the US) http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000260OW6/qid%3D1095231821/202-6566989-3959059 On the same site I found a fantastic concert : http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00020JQLC/qid%3D1095232230/202-6566989-3959059 Tracklisting: Kid Creole and the Coconuts 01 Stool Pigeon 02 Annie I'm Not Your Daddy 03 I'm A Wonderful Thing Baby The Real Thing: 04 Can You Feel The Force 05 Can't Get By Without You 06 You To Me Are Everything Rose Royce 07 Wishing On A Star 08 Love Don't Live Here Anymore 09 Car Wash Alexander O'Neal: 10 If You Were Here With Me Tonight 11 Fake Shalamar: 12 There It Is 13 Friends 14 A Night To Remember Tavares: 15 Don't Take Away The Music 16 More Than A Woman 17 Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel Chic: 18 Everybody Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance 19 I Want Your Love 20 I'm Coming Out 21 Upside Down 22 He's The Greatest Dancer 23 We Are Family 24 Le Freak 25 Good Times All are absolutely live with real band back up and all are in their original line up (For example Howard Hewett is with Jeffrey Daniel as Shalamar although Jody is missing... but when was the last time you heard Howard sing A Night To Remember!?) The Chic set is fantastic. Omar Hakim is just mind boggling on the I'm Coming Out intro... Kid Creole is great too (as are the Coconuts of course LOL) It's an all zone so it will play on the US DVD players. Another fantastic concert is vintage live appearance of Tower of Power : What Is Hip: Live At Iowa State University http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001FYQJ0/ref=pd_sim_d_dp_2/202-6566989-3959059 The boys are in top form... Dave Garibaldi and Rocco Prestia are one hell of a team too. I haven't been able to find out the name of the blind singer-organist-bass player who is quite amazing but he sure is a sight to see. Compared to the other ToP DVD available there is no competition. This one is amazing with a set list to cry for... Down To The Nightclub, What Is Hip, You've Got To Funkafize, In The Slot and many many more... The new DVD series at Motown is quite interesting too. It's a series of low budget (around $7.98) video compilations. Among them the following are the most interesting : New Edition http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001DMY1O/qid=1095233676/sr=1-10/ref=sr_1_10/104-3120079-1102329?v=glance&s=dvd with : 1. Cool It Now 2. Mr. Telephone Man 3. If It Isn't Love 4. Can You Stand The Rain 5. I'm Still In Love With You The Donna Summer http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001DMY2I/qid=1095233971/sr=1-11/ref=sr_1_11/104-3120079-1102329?v=glance&s=dvd with 1. She Works Hard For The Money 2. Unconditional Love 3. There Goes My Baby 4. This Time I Know It's For Real 5. Love's About To Change My Heart End The Commodores with Nightshift Lady (You Bring Me Up) Saturday Night Goin' To The Bank Take It From Me The Temptations with Stay I'm Here Standing On The Top with Rick James (totally awesome video with The Temps feat. Dennis Edwards, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, Otis Williams, Richard Street) Time After Time I Wonder Who She's Seeing Now And the CAMEO DVD... which is already out of stock almost everywhere... At a store over the weekend I noticed Warner Bros. has a double-dvd 20th anniv. set of PURPLE RAIN with extra features. Also UNDER THE CHERRY MOON on dvd. I believe the two dvd releases were simultaneous. |

Yes and Graffiti Bridge too.... What's nice about the Purple Rain DVD is the extra stuff... Here's what they say about it : MTV's flip side saves the day: eight music videos from Prince, the Time, and Apollonia 6. Sizzling, post-film performances of "Take Me with U" and "I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm a Star" both feature extended instrumental jams and exciting looks at the real-life Revolution's Purple Rain tour. Not bad... The Apollonia Six's Sex Shooter Video is already enough for me to go out and buy it LOL Wonder B |

Wonder B the Best Disco DVD is a must have...thanks for pulling ones coat !!!! Kdubya PS The Temptation video which I have posted about is not very satisfying, But to see the Magnificent Seven along with Rick James is worth it. Wish they could have extended that particular set with some extras like them bitching about who would sing what, what steps were too difficult....Rick offering them a doobie...something......once again thanks for the update... |

Kdubya you're welcome! That BEST DISCO IN TOWN DVD is really great. Real music with real bands and totally live stuff... Can't get any better than that. I love the PBS specials but the DVD's have one annoying thing. They add applause and audience cheering on each and every track and it bothers me when you have a wide shot, to see the people partying but with no one clapping and hear those thunderous noises... Otherwise their latest one : "Superstars of 70's Soul Live" is excellent... http://www.shoutfactory.com/se lection/134/Super_Stars_Of_Sev enties_Soul.html Here's the track listing : 1. Lady Marmalade - Patti LaBelle 2. Disco Inferno Earl Youngs Trammps 3. Always and Forever Heatwave 4. Over The Rainbow Patti LaBelle 5. Rock Your Baby - George McCrae 6. Right Back Where We Started From - Maxine Nightingale and Pure Gold 7. Shining Star - The Manhattans featuring Gerald Alston & Blue Lovett 8. Betcha By Golly, Wow / You Are Everything The Stylistics 9. You Make Me Feel Brand New The Stylistics 10. Aint No Stopping Us Now - McFadden and Whitehead 11. If You Don't Know Me By Now - Harold Melvin's Blue Notes 12. Natural High - Bloodstone 13. Best Of My Love - The Emotions 14. Have You Seen Her The Chi-Lites with Eugene Record 16. Oh Girl The Chi-Lites with Eugene Record 17. Brick House The Commodores 18. If I Can't Have You - Yvonne Elliman 19. Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel - Tavares 20. We Are Family Debbie and Joni Sledge of Sister Sledge Bonus Tracks 21. Cowboys To Girls The Intruders 22. If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time Tyrone Davis Just great!!! Love that Trammps routine... and this DVD is also the last chance you'll get to see McFadden & Whitehead... Wonder B |

Wonder B, I ordered the Disco DVD and expect to get it in a couple of days. I've seen the PBS show and posted about McFadden and Whitehead some weeks ago. Patti Labelle was the host and it was a pretty decent show. John Whitehead was just as animated as he ever was and he was all over the stage dancing, smiling, encouraging the audience to participate. Here in Chicago it aired after his death. Probaly worth getting it because of Tyrone Davis appearence. I pray that he gets better. |

Yes I know about that Kdubya... but de-zoning a DVD player is quite easy and fast. Over here everybody has dezoned DVD players... It easier that way so you can order DVD's all over the world... and I'll tell you there is no country that offers everything so if you dezone yours you'll be able to buy great stuff abroad too... I hope Destruction will be able to help you out... Wonder B |
