Just heard that Jimmy Lewis passed away yesterday after battling cancer. While Jimmy recorded a string of fantastic Southern soul records for labels like Minit, Volt and Hotlanta, he's probably best-known for his collaborations with Ray Charles. I believe they had an entire album together on ABC/TRC. And now Ray has some good company up there. Rest in peace, Jimmy. Best, Mark |

Mark, Not you too!!! I just responded to Jimmy's post abour Tyrone Davis. I clicked back & saw your post about Jimmy Lewis. Once again, this is sad news & they must be planning one hell of a Soul Jam, the way all of our singers are leaving here these days. I'm not that old, but I'm sure beginning to feel old. These are folks from my youth & they're leaving so rapidly these days. Jimmy Lewis: R.I.P My condolences go out to all of his family, friends & fans! |

This is sad news to hear. I'm aware of his music thru my late aunt who had alot of his singles from record labels that are mentioned here. |
