Per NY paper--Miss Blige stole the Radio City show from Alicia, Usher and Beyonce etc-more to come--she was only one to get FULL standing o. |

Whatever!!!!!!!!!! She can't sang worth a damn, and if they gave her a standing O, it was because of how far she's come from where she's been. I hate the fact that the young people today don't know good earth shattering singing like the songs sung by entertainers of long ago. They think because she is hip-hop, that she is a good entertainer. NOT!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I am glad that she's a changed person, a better person but she can't touch, Usher, Beyonce or Alicia!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's my opinion anyway. |

Well everyone has an opinion, and I will add mine. I have always been drawn to the voice of Mary J. Blige and IMHO, she is first of all not a hip-hop singer per se. Mary J's musical repertoire is diverse, she can sing just about any genre of music, and that is why I have always given her props. Mary J., has convinced me that her musical ability has "true staying power". I became convinced years ago, with her performance of the classic r&b tune "Misty Blue". I'm glad she is getting the accolades that she deserves. |

I'm with you Vonnie. Mary J. has come a long way. She convinced me, some time ago when I saw her on a VH1-Divas show, when she sang Aretha's "Daydreaming", and she did that scat! Go Mary J.! Handsome |

I personally like her duet with Ree-Ree as well as her duet with the young fella from Jodeci...dam she can get emotional and hold her own with Ree-Ree ?? Mary came from the Hip-Hop generation but she is not Hip-Hop. She is dripped and dipped in soul.....sweet as honey and smooth as a butter cookie........nuff said..... Kdub |

Me too Vonnie-the review was speaking of the quality of the performances--and reviewer agreed with the Standing Ovation. |

I felt Mary J's vibe around 5 years ago, and I was hooked. I remember commenting to a woman that I knew "she will be the successor to The Queen of Soul", the woman thought I was off my rocker. I also posted this same thought on a past SD thread, I really feel that she can be Aretha's successor. Anyone who knows me, knows that to me Aretha is like Ali, she is the greatest, and Mary J. is her lady in waiting. |

WOW...I haven't really been able to get into Mary's singing...it's very harsh and sometimes hard for me to even listen to... I think if Kelly Price made better music she could easily be a successor to the queen. |
