David,
I can't say as I recall The Platters recording at Tera Shirma. The present lead singer was here at Powerhouse last year though. This was one of my all time favorite groups.

I have spent time talking with Sonny Turner, the Platters lead singer on their Musicor recordings (he's Vegas based these days). He told me the group toured all year round back in the 60's. When some new recording work was required the rest of the group, etc. would travel by road to the next engagement (say Miami to New Orleans) while he would jump on a plane to New York. There he would go straight into the company's studio & sing over pre-recorded backing tracks (done in Detriot a lot of the time). The backing vocals would be provided by guys in the NY studio. He would then jump on a 2nd plane and rejoin the rest of the group for the 1st show of their next booking. Hope this helps.
