Hi Bob, and a warm welcome.
I think Mike Terry also went down to Philly to do some sessions - can you remember him being in town?
Who were you working for when you came up to Detroit? And was this in the 1960s or 70s?

THE SESSIONS WERE FOR MIKE TERRY.
HE WAS DOING AN INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM OF MOTOWN COVERS FOR COLUMBIA. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A COPY OF IT HAVE YOU?
HE IN FACT DID COME DOWN TO PHILLY BUT I FORGET WITH WHOM.
AN EX WIFE OF HIS , MIKI FARROW RESIDES IN PHILLY.

Hi Bobby,

I think I've got a lead on that instrumental album. I had no luck checking my listings of
Columbia albums so I tried Columbia subsidiaries
and came across this one on Okeh.

DETROIT CITY LIMITS "Ninety Eight Cents Plus Tax"
(Okeh OKS14128) released in early '68.

There was a single extracted from the album
"Ninety Eight Cents Plus Tax" / "Honey Chile".
The a-side, the title track of the album would appear to be an original, the B-side is obviously
a version of the Martha and the Vandellas hit.

Does this ring any bells ?

I've never seen the album and have as yet been unable to trace a complete track listing but it
looks as if this is the album you worked on with Mike Terry as Mike has a few credits on Okeh.

I DONT THINK THATS THE ONE. IT WAS ON COLUMBIA PROPER.
I THINK THEY RELEASED AINT NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING AS A SINGLE.I USED TO HAVE A REVIEW OF IT THAT APPEARED IN BILLBOARD BUT I CANT SEEM TO FIND IT BUT I WILL KEEP ON SEARCHING.
