In Davids absence ( please come back David ) I have agreed to take over the moderating of the forum. Most everyone is familiar with me and I really don't have any rules other than the standard forum rules which include no advertising or porno. I think we all get along very well here and are of like minds considering our mutual interest in classic R&B.I just want all of you to know that I'll be here to help in any way I can.

Thanks, Ralph, for agreeing to help out. Thanks too to others who emailed me off-forum with your encouragements and offers of help.

All of you can help out by keeping an eye on the forum and contacting Ralph or me if something gets out of line or, may the gods forbid it, should the forum crash.

This should not be much of a problem as this is the most respectful forum I have ever seen.

Carry on!

Ralph, let me add my thanks to David and now you for picking this up.

We all experienced small isolated parts of our story. It is fantastic being able to knit together a larger view of who we all were and what we did in Detroit.

The responsibility of co-running this site hit me hard on Monday.

The responsibility for what people are saying and the responsibility for moderating what people are saying. To zap/edit something is not for me.

It is with pleasure that I pass this onerous task to Ralph Terrana. Ralph will find it easy, he has the charisma. He was/is also one of the most important of players in the field of the music industry in sixties Detroit.

Therefore, like a soccer team with a manager, who was once a great player; he will command total respect.

I will speak to Lowell about the other problem; who is responsible for what gets said on here. That worries me more than anything.

My thanks go to Harry Dhesi who listened to me all evening in a bar in Glasgow night fo' last.
His advice was sound. As we looked at hundreds of photos from our trip last month, I just knew I had to crawl back on here.

It would be insanity to not.

To everyone who sent me an e-mail, I will respond by tomorrow. I'm sorry that I have not done so already.

To everyone who wrote through the forum, I say thank you. It IS a great forum, full of great people.

Tonight I'm going downtown with Davie G(ordon) to talk about Detroit. Thanks to Davie for phoning me last night. As I listen to someone who really knows his stuff, it will be a great way to pass an evening. Davie, the beers are on me.

Finally, it is embarrassing writing this. It's just the way I am, too complicated for words. Please therefore just read it and do not respond.

Oh and to C Bell/Eric, that silly little sticker, on that old 78 which was sold in Berry Gordy's shop on Farnsworth....one of the best uploads since we started. Thanks a million.

David,
I'm sure that strong breeze your feeling is a result of our collective sighs of relief.
Welcome home pal. Good to have you back where you belong. It will be my pleasure to take the resposibilities of the forum off your shoulders. Don't feel embarrassed about any of it David. A complicated nature is something we musicians all relate to and our empathy for what you deal with is genuine. All of us here have become your family David and we care about you. We are all glad you came in from the cold to bask in the warmth of our love.

Ralph and every one,

I too am breathing a sigh of relief>
Where were we gonna go??what were we gonna do??
Who were we gonna recollect with? Why oh why pray tell am I behaving like this??
Before the forum I was just an artifact of soul and now due to 'YOUSE GUISE" I am an architect of soul. It makes me so happy to know that there are so many like minded human beings out there who are just as crazy as I am insofar as being "anorakish" for lack of a better term. I have listened and learned so many things from so many wonderful people both old and new. Where else and how else would I had the overwhelming desire to get in touch with Mike Terry, Jack Ashford, Dennis Coffey, all of my musicals idols. Mike Mc Clean, who I knew about as far back as 1962 although I thought that he was an engineer as well as a master technician who built the gear by hand.
The coincidence of me actually having been to
"The Holy Shrine Of Tera Shirma!!" (kinda sounds like one of those temples in the Himalayas doesn't it?) I guess then I was a "Sherpa of the groove" Maybe that is why I YAK so much, huh??
I guess then Ralph is the Dahli Lama of Detroit!

By the way David, now for that Haggis and Gelilte fish, eh????

My God Bobby, don't look now but you sprouted another person. David...You think you're complicated????? Get a load of ths guy!! I suggest we take up a collecton and send a shrink for a serious sit-down with Bobby.......no...wait a minute....then it wouldn't be the BOBBY we have all come to love. Fagetaboutit!!! Carry on ya crazy stugazze!!

Hey Guys,

What a great site! I have been following this now for the past 6 months and am in total awe of the content.

Yea, I plonk a little and am freaked out by Motown (as I was 40 years ago). Every small piece of background information is vital, a real history trail.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you Ralph,

I only came upon this site in my search for Jamerson info. I promise to keep my mouth shut with regard to 'who played what on which record', but we all know anyway! Even I can tell!!!!!

I still say that David left because we are all too cheap to send any money!
