David,
Sonny was cool.He was rather short...good looking, soft spoken and very talented. He smoked Kool cigarettes which he opened from the bottom of the pack. kind of a Detroit Brother kind of thing. He said he did it that way because he was once an auto mechanic and his greasy hands wouldn't touch the filter this way.If you have The Swingin Kind it is Sonny who is responsible for the groove it has...the funkiness. When we wrote the song we played it very white. After Sonny listened to us play it he made some major changes. Sonny was great to work with. I think we learned a lot from him.

You may already know that Sonny was in The Satintones at Motown, as well as the Rayber voices. He also arranged the strings on some of those early Motown singles, such as "Jamie" by Eddie Holland.
He was then at Correc-tone before going to work for Ed Wingate at Golden World; he had the SonBert label with Robert Bateman. Most people know him through the hits he had in Chicago with Jackie Wilson, plus "Love Makes a Woman."

David,
What song are you refering to? I assume Myto Music was GW's publishing company. The Sunliners wrote the songs but GW owned the publishing on them.I assume we are talking about Swingin' Kind or All Alone here.
