ed wolfrum pointed out to me that 'theme productions' was used by ed wingate after the sale of 3246 west davison.
i wonder if 'i love you madly' was recorded there?
i had never seen any reference to that studio prior to ed pointing it out.

Graham,
I really can't say what titles were recorded at Tera Shirma. However I certainly knew most of the people in your posted list.Armon Boladian became a very good client and friend. Johnnie Mae Mathews would use the studios in their earlier history. Popcorn became a very dear friend. I guess to answer your question, yes I was pretty much familiar with all these people

Wingate sold the studio on W Davision in Sept 1966 to Motown, so after that he used various studios; United, Tera Shirma and Magic City.
What's Theme Productions ?

graham, you'll find it in the 1967 yellow pages.
"It was a production house that ended up doing many Wingate sessions after the close of Golden World. I was there only a short time before going to United". says ed wolfrum

Graham,
How are you? Since you posted the info on Lonette
McKee and the Strides I'm sure you know that I was co-producer on Lonette's record "Stop" and writer-producer on the Strides(small world) Thanks
for waking up some memories from my past.

Hi Clay, Great to hear from you again.
The young Lonette also had a M-S record called Blue Jeans that's now worth a fortune ($1,000+) - do you have any copies at home? I think it was a Coffey/Theodore production.

Ralph, Clay, Graham and David,
Great discussion - what an opportunity to hear from yer actual writers/producers/label owners etc - thanks David! A copy of 'Blue Jeans' for me too please. I suppose I'm typical of many Detroit collectors, having some on each label but missing all the 'big uns'! More 'Tattooed Wives' than 'Captivateds'.
Anyone know of a label called MSK Productions Inc? I suppose it's connected with M-S and Dearborn. It's a 70's disco label but there is an instrumental of Silky Hargraves' outing on Dearborn - MSK 763.

Ian...this label does not ring any bells with me. Hang tight. I'm sure someone will know it.

how did you link m-s with dearborn?
after a bit of scratching about, there appears to be a connection.
chetkay publishing appears on some 45's. the owner is chester kajeski who lives in dearborn (!).
i wonder if he is the 'k' in msk? who owned m-s is the next question? clay mcmurray? (and one other).
more later.

Wotcha David,
I've got (no doubt again from Rob Dearlove, Graham Anthony, Derek Pearson and their mags and contributors ...many thanks guys) the following owners of M-S:
Martin, Synder and KAJESKI!!
And having a look around, they are mentioned linked with Dearborn, Kool Kat, Marquee, and possibly Puff (although might be T J Fowler for that last one). Certainly Chetkay is common link between 1st three and M-S!

now that i'm home....
my database shows that martin & schneider owned
m-s.
they ran m-s productions from 13200 west warren, dearborn, which is also the address of dearborn records.
i have a picture of that building which looks like a former bank.
this image adds to what you say.

Looks good to me!
Tim Brown once mentioned that there is some Polka music on Dearborn label. I've bought some daft stuff in the past just for an example of the label but never any polka music! There is a very mixed bag of music on these labels eg. Britain's Black Sheep and Johnnie White stuff. The soul stuff is extremely collectable though - I wish I had some. I'll have to make do with the pressing of Joe Matthew's 'Ain't Nothing You Can Do' on Kool Kat.
