I'll assume you're referring to the Shirelles song & guess you are aware that the Sonnettes did a version that remained unreleased until Kent issued it a couple of years ago. When I was helping Mick Patrick research this one it eventually transpired the connection from Detroit to Shirrelle-land was Armen Boladians role as a distributor of Scepter Records in Detroit ..also involved were Whitfield, Richard Street, Thelma Coleman (Gordy), Armen & publisher Curtis Ash.
I wonder where Thelma is these days ..tried tracking her a few years ago but got nowhere at all

I spoke to Willie Kendrick (he wrote one of the KO releases) and he mentioned that Armen took up his song. Armen had a connection with the Shirlles and they hoped that the Shirelles might record it, but it never happened.
I've not heard the song you're refering to; I'll have to splash out and buy the CD - What else is on it and what's it called?

That CD is highly enjoyable, Graham... my favorite is "I've got a crush on teacher" by the fawns. Such a pleasant bouncy track!
