Hey, glad you like that cd!! It blew my mind when I got it, the only other Black Nasty I'd heard was 'Blacknasty Boogie' on the Stax box set, I still can't believe it sold fewer than 7500 copies when it came out, there are bootlegs that have sold better than that! Another lesser know Detroit led Stax group is 24 Carat Black, I forget the name of the guy who wrote and arranged 'Ghetto-Misfortune's Wealth' lp but he was an ex-Motown arranger I think. Other funk fans I've talked to aren't wild about it, but I think it varies between compelling (like the opening song) and spellbinding (Mother's Day)... hey, can you send me any info about that Funk Bros movie premiere in Detroit?
Erik, now listening to 'You're The One' by the Twilights offa 'Totally Northern Soul' comp on Goldmine or Vital (same label?)

As it happens, Toronto has a great place for Goldmine stuff by way of Kopps-Vortex, I'll bet a few collectors lurking here know Martin K or know of him, anyhow he has a good GB-Canada import/export situation going... if you're ever in Toronto, check them out, they also have a dynamite 7" collection but everything is priced, er, accordingly... Erik/ I don't work there & am not a friend of MK nor a business partner with this store, it's just a recommendation...

Martin Koppel......
That guy had a heart of gold....my mum and dad went to his shop in Toronto about 20 years ago and said to Martin, sort something nice out for John for me, he's a Detroit Motown fan.
My mum and dad came back with Ronnie Love - "Detroit Michigan" cardboard discs on the Supremes and more.
Thanks Martin!
