I have been in contact with Leon Ware and his lovely wife Carol, recently. I have noticed mention of his name on the Babbitt thread.
When I spent considerable time in L.A.,such as when I was producing Atlantic Starr, I met Leon and Carol Ware through Shelly Weiss who was at A&M records at the time. Carol was an executive at MCA music. Shelly used to give some mean barbecues and Leon created an ingredient called
"Wares the Sauce" which was infamaously known and in my opinion , should have been marketed.
Leon's contribution to the history of music has , in my opinion, been underappreciated.
He was responsible for Marvin Gaye's "IWant You"
album, and when Leon demoed some songs which Marvin heard, he said that he wanted them all.
I will e-mail him today and inform him of the site .

I forgot to mention that A and E did a Marvin Gaye documentary which was aired in January in which Leon was featured. I am almost certain that they will rebroadcast it.

Hi Bobby

I've always enjoyed Marvin's I Want You album and have always been fascinated by the Leon Ware connection. For those who haven't read the small print, all 11 tracks on the album are co-written and co-produced by Leon.

I realise it's unlikely to happen, but I would imagine that I'm not the only person who'd love to hear the LW originals.

No disrespect to Marvin - I loved the man - but I feel it was often other people's ideas that sparked his creativity, something that appears to be forgotten sometimes in the rush to praise him as an innovator.

If anyone has Leon's e mail address, I would surely appreciate someone sending it to me.
Leon and I worked together quite a bit in Detroit during the sixties. The first record we worked on was "Big Time Fun" by The Debonaires at Golden World.

Spooky, I'd heard that Leon Ware had passed away years ago!
I was also told that Leon sang lead on one of the "Holidays" records on Revilot - "Love's Creeping Up On Me" and maybe the flip "Never Alone" - I'll email his site to ask, but hopefully he'll respond to this posting.
Cheers, Graham
