Query for you - the writing credit for the above apparently shows BENNETT/MATTHEWS/WILLIAMS. The second two are obvious, but any clues on who "Bennett" was?

I think Bennett was Johnnie Mae's friend - he recorded Send Me back To Georgia(Wand) ... what's his name..... #&$@?!....slowly going ga-ga here.

Would that be Timmy Shaw?

Got it - I think: "James Bennett, her (Johnnie Mae's) writing and production partner." Well, that would make sense!

Yea, Timmy Shaw - I'm sure that's right. Johnnie Mae and Timmy hung-out and collaborated on few a songs.

One for John, perhaps...?
The label of the Temptations' debut 45 gives the following credit: "a DRE-MIC production"
It's always stated that BG produced the Temptations' early records. I suspect the MIC is probably "Mickey" Stevenson, but DRE... any clues?
(The only Detroiter that sprang to mind was André Williams, but that seems a little far from the mark.)

Ritchie

That's right...Andre Williams and William "Mickey" Stevenson.

Andre produced the Temps "Postively Absolutely Right" one of MY all time favourites.

Its played on the "Scene" I am told..

OK, another puzzler... I just spotted on eBay a VHS video called: The Temptations : The Original Years 1962-1968. The first item on the tape is described as follows:

"MOTOR TOWN REVUE AT THE APOLLO 1962:Songs are Two Lovers, Bye Bye Baby. Temps are singing background for Mary Wells. Only Eddie, Paul, Melvin and Otis were there at that time, David did not join the group yet."

Plus: I have a very rare (unpublished) scan of a photo-montage from the Apollo in 1962 which also apparently shows a four-man Temptations.

Curiouser and curiouser, said Alice.

It's played on the Northern scene in the UK...

Go get a plane to an all nightere in Manchester........as there are no all nighters in Detroit (well, not the type you are wanting!!)

You know your Mr Dennis might have even engineered that session...have you thought of asking him for a copy!!!
