When I spoke to Sonny Sanders a few years ago he mentioned RAY-SON-DALE productions (or similar spelling) at Motown. I don't remember seeing anything like this printed on the 45s and wonder if it was just a name they used in the studio. "They" being Raynoma, Sonny and Dale Warren. Can anyone enlighten me?
TIA, Graham

Graham,
Ray-Son-Dale is a new one on me.
All those producer credits like Brianbert
and Dre-Mic seem to date form 1960 to around 62/3.
I've always thought Dale WArren was a good few years younger than Bob Bateman, Sonny Sanders
and the others.
I'm not saying that it it isn't Dale Warren
just that it seems a bit early for him - as far
as I can recall Dale Warren credits didn't start
appearing until around '67.

I think Sonny left Motown during spring 1962. He also mentioned that Dale was Miss Ray's cousin.

source of following info 'berry, me and motown' by raynoma gordy singleton.
dale warren was raynoma's nephew.
she paid sonny sanders $15 per week to do lead sheets and thus lighten her workload. this is dated 1960-1.
in same paragraph miss ray then says she signed dale as an arranger around same time as hank cosby.
maybe john lester has more detail?

Mention the name of Dale Warren and you have to say Andy Rix.
