I have a slim thread to Northern Soul this time...bear with me brothers and sisters!
The Complete Duets by Marvin and Tammi has a previously unissued duet track "Oh How I Miss You" written by, among others Frank and Vance Wilson. It features a male vocalist and not Marvin Gaye.
Now I want you to check out this site
http://www.lavocalgroups.com/archive.html It tells you all about a guy called Frank Wilson, right down to his school and the fact that he sung "Oh How I Miss You" for Tammi and it ended up appearing on the MG&TT album "United".
Now this is not the same Frank Wilson who did "Do I Love You" and worked for Motown in 1964/5 BECAUSE......Frank "DO I Love You" Wilson was specifically asked whether it was his vocal on the version of "Oh How I Miss You" that appears on the Complete Duets CD and he said NO and "he didn't know what the other Frank Wilson sounded like. So there must be another Frank Wilson. Now my menory is not good these days but I do recall confusion about this some time ago....can anyone remind an aging old fool here.
Rixy..where are you?

Hi John,
The other Frank Wilson is also an LA based
singer and writer. He's a lifelong friend of
Barry White and it's this FW who has many co-writing credits on Barry White releases all through the 70's. THe non-Motown FW was also
lead singer for an LA group, the Remarkables,
who recorded for Audio Arts.
If you have Barry White's book this other FW
gets quite a few mentions.

Davie.....so was it not Frank (Do I Love You) Wilson that wrote Love Unlimited's "High Stepping ..Kind A Fella" but the other Frank Wilson.
Oh my dear, I have got it wrong all these years.
WILL THE REAL FRANK WILSON PLEASE STAND UP AND THE WRONG ONE ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES!
How utterly confusing...for a simple guy like myself!

John,
You're in good company - I'd always thought it was the Motown FW who was Barry White's co-writer
- it wasn't until I read White's book that
the true identity of "the other FW" was revealed
to stun the 3 or 4 people who care about this sorta thing :-)
