Hi all,

Part of my youthful years found my person to be sitting in front of a radio listening to anything I could. I, however, had a special place in my heart until this day, for what I call 'Morning Gold': soft rock and R&B. These are the songs that just start your day off right, make you hum a tune all day, and talk about it with someone later on in the day: ('Guess what I heard on the radio today I havent heard in years?'...)
Id like to dedicate this thread to those 'great start your day off right' songs and add this statement 'What particular song brightens up your day, no matter how many time you hear it?'
PS - feel free to shout out your soft music radio station, our here is 'Light-FM -106.7'

Here is the DyvaNaye 'Morning Gold' list:

Cracklin Rosie - Neil Diamond
Maggie May - Rod Stewart
Drift Away - Dobie Gray
What A Fool Believes - Doobies
Candida - Tony Orlando/Dawn
Half Breed - Cher
Listen to the Music - Doobies
Brandy - Looking Glass
How Long - Ace
It's Too Late - Carole King
Youre So Vain - Carly Simon
Takin' it Easy - Eagles
Sister Golden Hair Suprise - America
Hrse with No Name - America
Ventura Highway - America
Same Old Love - Anita Baker

More later
'your turn now...' - Otis redding

I remember mornings with Dad listening for the weather at the top of the hour.It was the only reason he had the radio on and would usualy miss the first couple with the battling siblings getting ready for school. If you wanted to get my father mad,all you had to do was make him miss the weather report.I suppose looking out the window would have been too hard!
...ANYWAYS... The #1 garunfreekinteed song that would play during that two hour window was Up Up And Away -The 5th Dimension
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
We could float among the stars together, you and I
For we can fly we can fly!
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloo-ooooooo-ooooon
The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon.
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon.
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky
For we can fly we can fly!
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloooooony frikin' loon
Suspended under a twilight canopy.
We'll search the clouds for a star to guide us,
If by some chance you find yourself loving me,
We'll find a cloud to hide us,
We'll keep the moon beside us
Love is waiting there in my beautiful balloon.
Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon.
If you'll hold my hand we'll chase your dream across the sky.
For we can fly we can flitery flicken fluck fli-eye-eye-eye-eye
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon
Balloon...
Up, up, and away.....

Worse of a earworm than Starland Vocal Band in my books.(LOL now ya got that running in your head too!)There are plenty of other 5th songs that I don't mind and really like the relative Friends Of Distinction, but my skin crawls as soon as I hear Ballooooooooooooooooooooooon.
Ah fond AM Gold memories!
Anyone want to talk about James Last Non-Stop Party records? This was the hippest record my parents had next to Simon & Garfunkel-Bridge Over Troubled Water L.P. and it had been a gift from a nephew.Of course that record disapeared into my collection and later was lost.A fact that is dredged up every time we get together. Not like they ever listened to it,but wasn't mine to take.
I am the first to admit this and felt bad about it without their help.
Of course I have offered up several replacement copies over the years and even though the nephew wasn't Paul or Art and didn't sign the LP,they refuse to accept a replacement as it is not the same.So if anyone has a copy KCS 9914 Columbia, with a return address label on the back for Mr.&Mrs. Dollar Bill Sr.,please help me end a 20 + year feud.

Issues?What issues? ;)
dement shun'd

Hey Medusa,

Believe it or else, I actually produced five songs for the Englebert After the Lovin album!
Not that song, but I did have the first single, "This is what you mean to me" which did quite well.

We recorded at Sigma with the "full monty", MFSB, Sweeties, everybody, and we all enjoyed it immensely.
and believe or else, I showed him some "runs" at the end of some of some of the tunes!

He is a real gentleman and a consumate pro and extremely appreciative.
