I just finished reading 'God, Dr. Buzzard and the Bolito Man' by Cornelia Walker Bailey. (A Saltwater Geechee talks about life on Sapelo Island, GA) It's a book on the inhabitants of the islands off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia who have kept most of their African traditons. It's said they believe in God, Dr. Buzzard (root doctor) and the Bolito Man (numbers man) in that order. Preety good book but not as interesting as I thought it would be.

I'm on page 198 of "Faith In Time - The Life of Jimmy Scott" by David Ritz. Very interesting in its own right and made even more so by the "goings on" here in SDF.

One of my biggest probs is that I love to read and read a lot, but I read sloooooowww. So these next 40 pages will probably take me a week or more to get through.

When I'm finished this one, I'm gonna grab a copy of Dennis Coffey's book.

Most books about music that I read cover to cover, such as SITSOM, the Hendrix book by C.S. Murray and now Faith In Time, win awards.... hmmmm.

Hey All,

I was given the book "A Purpose Driven" - by Rick Warren from my ex co-workers before I left VA. It is a wonderful book so far - although - I just finished a couple of chapters. It is a spiritual type book that talks on what a person's Purpose is in life. I've always known that life was more or less meaningless without one having a purpose. I'm glad my daughter's future is a big part of my purpose. And taking care of our dog. LOL!

Ironically - my contact from Lockheed Martin and I talked on yesterday - and I informed him that I was reading it. He stated that he had just started reading it too - and suggested that we speak about it as we are reading along. Isn't that something?

I highly recommend it. It is a great idea for a gift - indeed.

Another book I read is Doowop: The Chicago Scene by Robert Pruter. Where he does extensive research and interviews which chronicles the careers of such legendry 1950's doowop vocal groups as The Flamingos, The Spaniels, The Moomglows, The El Dorados, alond with virtually every other known and unknown Chicago doowop groups who've contributed to the area's musical golden era. What I dig most about his book was he's done extensive reseach in depth interviews with label owners, DJ's and has tracked down alot of compilations that some music lovers and collectors of doowop are raving about.

Yo Paulie,

It seems that I'm still reading a nother story from the Nancy Drew novel series. What gets to me is, why is it that Nancy always get a head crack when she's close to solving a crime. With every novel I'm surprise she not a walking handicap or somethin'?

I just finished reading Grace & Power. It's the story of the Kennedy years. I found it very interesting. It went into specifics about the relationship between JFK & Jackie, plus the extent of JFK infidelities, as well as strategic times during the Kennedy administration (like the Cuban missle crisis.

believe it or not the book called
"I dont mean to be rude but.... by Simon Cowell is a great read, especially for aspiring artists.
Its very well written from a cynical Brits perspective, and I love it!!

If I were in his position, I would be the exact same way...maybe more so!!

Simon...My kind of guy!!

Speaking of which, I looked at a copy about six months ago. The damn magazine has ads in it now.

Other than that I just finished Mr. Coffey's book. Great stuff. Buy a copy and six copies for your mother.
