How many of you have family reunions? I attend one every year; one of my mother's side in the even year and my father's in the odd year. We just got back from Atlanta this morning @ 2:00a after having a wonderful time with the Robinson-Thomas Family. Our next reunion in 06 will be in the Motor City. I encouraged some of my cousins that I met for the first time who live in Detroit to visit this site. So we'll see what happens. If you do have reunions where have some of them be and how often do you meet, etc. I met my caucasian cousins via slavery in 2002 and we have traced our Lane lineage back to Jamestown, VA, the first established colony in this country. I can trace my Black roots to Cilla, an enslaved woman, back to her birth year of 1810. |

Nosey...My father's family had its first reunion last summer here in Detroit; a couple hundred people showed up from all over the country and it was an incredible weekend for all of us. My mother's side had a reunion about 20 years ago, but they haven't had anything since. I'm fortunate to have two first cousins (one on each side of the family) who are serious geneaologists and they've done considerable research into my family's history. We can trace my father's family back to the 1840s and my mother's family back to the 1780s. Both of them have put their work into written form so it can be passed along to future generations. |

We used tohave Family ReUnions, but just about everyone is Gone, and it's only a few of us and I mean a few of us left. I think that's why I can't listen to the O'Jays sing that song without crying. |

Gary - How luck you are to have such information on your family. |

Sis...I do feel really fortunate to have access to that family information. It wasn't easy to compile; both of my cousins spent years doing the research and hundreds of their own dollars in an effort to get all that history written down. It was worth it, because I was well past grown before I even knew anything about my family that happened before my grandparents. |
