Hey Folks:
After two months of getting my act together here in Wisconsin, I have finally returned to the Forum. Thanks to Weldon, Gary, Tony and others who emailed me directly and posted their concerns regarding my whereabouts.

To put it simply, folks - I decided back in March to move on to Wisconsin to be with my Lady Love (her name is Marcey) and settle down to become a "family man" (she has two kids). It was time for me to take a break from the music biz (15 years of working non-stop with no vacations) and return to my first love - radio. I'm currently an on-air personality for the Koser Radio Group in Rice Lake, WI on three stations - WJMC-FM
(Country-Western), WKFX-FM (Classic Rock) and WAQE-FM (Adult Top 40). I'm still writing liner notes for Tuff City and researching for Brunswick (the internet is a wonderful thing!) and planning on doing more writing.

I will try to post as much as I can (ca't tie up Marcey's phone line too long!). I'm glad the Darrell Banks memorial is happening (wish I could make it) and the Robert West Story is great,

Be well & I'll post soon!

Hi Kevin

It's great to see you back on here.

You are truly a major asset to the site.

Remember playing Darrell Banks on the way to the cemetery last year. Sounded awesome didn't he.

Hello all!

Hey Kevin! Glad to hear things are working for you. I was wondering as well what had happened but was relieved to read that you had made a transition in your life. Glad that it all came together for you! BTW, you're doing country, adult comtemporary & Classic rock??? Now that's an interesting combination! :-)

Peace!

Wow, KevGo is in the midwest! KevGo a midwestner? Well, Kev, how does it differ here from being from a city from the east that never sleeps. Man how I wish you we're in The Windy City where we could sit and talk or have lunch or to pay a visit, when only you'd have freetime, if you'd work here. Don't worry, I know there's a lot of weird, crazy and strange that's happenin' in the world, I know how to treat a celebrity spokesman as a normal person, a man, not a star. Cause stars are human beings too.

Please feel free to email me

Hey All,

Hey KevGo. Welcome back dude. I'm so pleased to find out that you have been caught. LOL! "Captured By The Game."

Btw - I've moved and one of the local radio stations is 97.1. It is baddddddddddddddd! I'll try to find a link in the a.m.. Their format reminded me of a few that were brought forth here. Simply spendid station. They play it all. Jazz - blues - r&b - soul and hip-hop - and it is done up so classy. I haven't really tried to find another favorite station. LOL! Another blessing - indeed.

I love hearing some of the Blues artists that are out there today. You know us folks in AL love us some blues. Bobby Bluebland and all the others that were hip and out there back in the day - get played everyday. Some of the ones we remember are still singing. And the records sound - kick me - goouud!

Hearing this kind of music each day - convinced me that good music is still being made - the stations some of us are/were used to - are just not playing it. My homies ain't having that crap. They know what good music is. Some of the best making love music in the world - can come from listening to some blues songs.

And - especially back in the day - when folks were sneaking and trying to get some before mama came home and/or whomever else could have came in from school or anywhere else. LOL!

Take it easy KevGo - and holler back when you can bro.

It ain't been the same here without you. Been more informative, lively, provocative, entertaining, boombastic, exhilerating (sic), tumultuous, etc.... just not the same.

Glad you're back, best wishes on your new beginning and hope to hear more from you soon.

Hey Kev-Go;
To answer your question Jimmy's doing real well, thanks to the man/woman :-) above for the blessings.

Jimmy has a new CD coming out from Warner Jazz in September titled "The Definitive Jimmy Scott: Someone To Watch Over Me" encompases 1949-to-now, including some movie soundtracks.

The Iridium wants to do a LIVE CD at the "gig", we are seeing what record label has the best offer.

Also Narada Micheal Walden wants to record him on a Sting project "Bach In Blues", as well as a solo artists, so we'll see what the future brings :-)!!

Bobby Eli & Jimmy also plan to collaberate on a project sometime in the near future.

We've so far rejected 4 or 5 other offers to record because they weren't in the Jimmy vain, another words Jimmy wasn't feelin' it, LOL!!!!!!!

Good to hear from you again Kev, again I wish you & Marcey all the best.

Hey All,

Hey KevGo. I moved to Montgomery "I'm In My Homeparts", Alabama.

Yes - the station is all that. Matter-of-fact - there are several wonderful things about living here I've found and realized. And to think that some folks think the South is backwards and what not.

Remember - in the Malcolm X movie - when that one man called "Detroit Red" a Bama? LOL! For years and back in the day - one was called a bama if they wore white or red socks - or wore high water pants. LOL! I used to say - wait a minute here. My home folks ain't no bamas. LOL!

I'm sure Eddie K. and Paul Williams had to put plenty of folks in their places.

I love the highways here and I-85. They actually have a large median w/grass in them - as opposed to where I just came from - where you see nothing but concrete in the middle. At the local DMV - they come out to inspect your car before they issue you your tags.

All of my bills are cheaper - and I get more cable stations for less money. Go figure! There really are all kind of wonderful things that I am finding about my area.

On Saturday - I took my daughter to a beauty shop to get some braids. A lady at the DMV hipped me to the place. I asked her hairdresser where the nearest ABC store was - and she told me to go down Rosa Parks Road - and I passed the Rosa Parks library. It is on the side of town - not far from downtown. I also stopped in this market and picked up me some meats my mother loved to put in her greens - and some slab bacon. LOL!

"I'm In Heaven." As one can tell - I am loving it. Meanwhile - I am getting ready to look for a job. I might be going w/Lockheed Martin. I have a contact that I met whilst in VA. He lives about five minutes from me in my same subdivision. He is ex Air Force - and a GM-15 Program Manager. I'll find one - for God and my mother is good.

Anyway KevGo - I missed your posts. And - I'm glad to see you all back up in 'da house.

Holler!

Kevin - this weekend it's Earth Wind and Fire, Vesta with Imprompt2, the Brothers Johnson, Gerald Levert and others at the Music Fest at Genesee Valley Park. And a talented local 16 year old -- Damaris Rivera. She's been in our church choir since she was 6 and is ready to break out.

And 1/4 mile up the road at the airport, the Blue Angels will be flying, almost competing with the Music Fest. I love the Blue Angels so I'm hoping to chill in the park, with those fabulous airplanes doing tricks overhead. Sure wish you were here!

"What you talkin' 'bout - Willis - a.k.a. - Destruction?" LOL! Where did I go wrong? I don't get it. What is wrong w/homeparts? At least I didn't say - h--dparts. LOL!

Anyway - a man left about two hours ago that put down me a wood floor in the kitchen. I love it! Anyone have wood in the kitchen?

"WAIT UNTIL TONIGHT" Is on the dial now. LOL! "If you think you're lonely now - and when it's cold outside." LOL!

Go Get Gone Girl:
Great to hear about your move. Sounds like 'Bama is the joint!

Soul Sister:
Jimmy rejected offers from 5 labels because they wanted him to be something he ain't, eh? It's hearing news like this that makes me not miss the business. You may want to try the indie labels - Concord Jazz, DRG, even Fantasy is releasing new product.

Juice Free:
Don't fret, amigo. The Sport Records project is still a "go". That's why I shared those mixes with you and Bobby Eli when you two came by the office.
I'll let you know when the project is complete.

Vonnie:
Good to hear from you and yes come up and visit anytime! There's a great casino and hotel not far from where I live that is not too expensive and we could hang out.

Linda Di:
Geez...I leave my hometown damn near 15 years ago and NOW they get the great concerts! Make sure you take pictures!

Steve:
The radio station's website is www.wjmcradio.com - I'll be on the air this saturday from noon til 6pm.

Lady Mystique:
Whoops! When I go back to NYC in the fall I will send you the TCB tape!

Nosey & Destruction:
Thanks for the kind words!

Paulie:
Yeah buddy, we could use a guy like you in Wisconsin!

Take care, everyone!

Kev-Go -

As soon as I speak to my Brother about directions, Im gonna recommend a 'restaurant by the side of a ditch road' to you in 'Eau Claire', where I once resided for a short spell. Good country eating for a REALLY cheap price. One thing I noted is that the eggs were the size of the ones you see on the FLINTSTONES...'Tarydactyle like'...lol....

Good luck to you and yours!

Hi Kev-Go;
Welcome back again! Now, to answer your question...Fantasy was Jimmy's label on his last 4 CD's, he fired them because of Producer Todd Barkan, didn't want to work with him anymore. He never met any of Jimmy's wishes and Jimmy felt ripped-off by him in connection with his ex-manager.
Concord (The label that just did Ray Charles Duets CD)...we are checking them out at present:-), that was one of the reasons for our trip last week to L.A. in connection with Narada MIchael Walden!
Thanks for your tips.
