As the SoulfulDetroit Forum has grown, new friendships and associations have developed. This inevitably leads to interpersonal discussions that are enjoyable, friendly and human, but not really on the topic of music discussion. To create outlets for these positive discussions, without disturbing the core discussion, we are pleased to introduce two new venues of discussion -- the SoulfulDetroit Club House and Non-SoulfulDetroit Issues.

SoulfulDetroit Club House is an arena for discussion among forum members, discussions about the forum itself, a place for people to call out to others to meet up or whatever, a place to announce events and talk about other interpersonal things that don't fit in the core forum.

This approach was developed on the DetroitYES forums with Detroit Connections for the very same reasons and it has been very popular and successful in putting people together while providing an outlet for discussions that really did not fit into the core discussion about Detroit on the Discuss Detroit Forum.

Later it was found that there was a further need for an outlet for issues that were neither about the core discussion nor the personal issues. So a third 'all the rest' forum Non Detroit Issues was created. The equivalent here is Non-SoulfulDetroit Issues. Here politics, off topic issues, current events, and more are discussed, fought over, and laughed about.

So have at it! From this point forward, if a topic in the core SoulfulDetroit Forum is is off topic, look for it here or in the Non SoulfulDetroit Issues as the moderators will move the threads as is appropriate.

But save us the trouble! If you wish to start a topic that does not fit in the core Soulful Detroit Forum discussion, start it here or in Non SoulfulDetroit Issues.

Eli and Soul Sis you two are so right! I've been wondering the same thing for a long time now. I've even seen it asked a few times but I don't remember ever seeing an answer.

Will we ever have access again to all of those wonderful SDF archives from the old forum and will we be able to search them by keyword? There's a lot of valuable information in those archives.

Yeah, yeah. I have them all. Don't sweat it; they'll be back. As you can see I have my hands full with other more immediate issues, like creating these new forums, like finishing the Darrell Banks memorial, like running the Discuss Detroit forum, like doing work for real money, like playing handball on Belle Isle and like having a life.

The more difficult issue is doing the set up to make them searchable. We may issue them on CD for a modest donation, for those who need fast local access, if there is an interest.

Lowell and David,

It's nice to have two forums going at the same time. I use to be disappointed on seeing some excellent thread come and go, that a lot of folks didn't have a chance to post, in time. Thanks to you both for having a 2 for 1 post.

Don

OK Thanks David and Lowell. I didn't mean to be rude, I just meant that I must have missed the responses.

Thanks for the answers you two.

All,

Lowell - my daughter dropped an envelope in the mail for you this morning. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Danke'.

Yesterday - I applied at two Magnet (they call them here - they call them Charter - in DC) schools for my child to attend. Today - she informed me that she would rather attend the public school - so I agreed that she could attend. What could I do? I didn't want to force her to go to the Magnet.

Oh well - I'll just have to pray on it. What I don't like is that she has to be at the bus stop by 6:40 a.m.. Too early in my book - but again - what can I do? LOL!

All,

I didn't want to start a new thread - but SOS out for Galactus? IMO - he always was a balanced and fair poster - wasn't he? I miss his posts.
