It's not WHAT you say, when you're saying what you're mean

It's HOW you say what you mean, when you say what you're saying
~~~EXPRESS YOURSELF~~~
This goes for yours truly also (ME)
We as adults here on SDForum...although we're grown & on our on...some of us have tender feelings...(we can certainly read between the lines as well). This is a very diversified Forum as far as cultures and lifestyles. So from now on, I will most definately do as Juice has already recommended, proof read my posts and come baack to them and make sure it's what I want posted...(Thanx Juice).
A lot of posting here, that seems to get some folks in trouble are not necessary what they intended/meant.
Now sometimes it can get heated a bit, then I think it would be better for me to not post at all...as I believe, some things are better left UN said...
Medusa, I so agree with your commentary. A certain etiquette should be maintained when communicating with others.
I'm starting to fall in love with so many of you here at Soulful Detroit. As a matter of fact, I'm addicted to SD!
Your comments are appropriate and in that regard, I will do better in proof reading my posts and "think" before I press that "post" button. My only fault is that I'm a bad speller. What I do is run it by my mail spell check first, just to make sure. But I sometimes slip up.
And to Juice, you're the greatest! You always say the right thing at the right time. I consider you the Mayor of Soulful Detroit. You really look out for everyone here. I thank you for that.
Express yourself!
Medusa, your good, very good and so true.
Some of my expressions and thoughts are:
It's hard to make a komeback when you havent been anywhere.
A fool and his money kan throw a hell of a party.
If quitters never win, and winners never quit, what fool kame up with,
"QUIT WHILE YOUR AHEAD"?
When blondes have more fun, do they know it?
I still miss my ex, but my aim is getting better.
Anger is only one letter short of DANGER.
The tounge weights practically nothing,
but so few people kan hold it.
Many people will walk into and out of your life,
but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
Hi Medusa and All,
I'm involved in this only to the extent that I have enjoyed both the serious/on-topic stuff and the jokes and pictures. Sure, the request to cut down was a bit abrupt, but David did mention that he is sometimes a bit too blunt. I just don't understand why this should involve a "Black-out" when this is surely one place where we should be able to come together! Sure, in my life (I'm white and 66) I've probably been guilty of bigotry and lots of other things, but I want to get out of that pattern and judge people by what we have in common--in this case a soul and the love for beautiful, soulful music.
I came on the list to find postings with such barely concealed references to sending an offending Jew to the "gas chamber," which is to me equivalent to the "lynch" word! The other reference was to the Israeli flag and some kind of Jewish conspiracy. Yeah, I could have tried an "Old White-Guy Jew-Out," but I probably would have had a small group join me ;-)
When I looked at other posts those brothers made, I found decency, humor, and intelligence--so I try to see them as fellow human strugglers who are as liable to error as I am.
I guess that I should apologize for breaking the "out" and posting, but I just want to stress that we would be biting the hand .... in a forum that should bring us together.
And Juice, I won't post my picture because I'm not as good-looking as you, and I don't want to set a precedent for bald, bearded pictures!
Peace/Shalom to some wonderful people! A month or so ago when I joined the group, many of you helped me to develop a basic Hitsville/Motown/Philly collection to replace the collection I lost when I entered the military in the 50's.
I pray that we can all cool down and not expect the world to be too perfect.
Bob
Is that me or another Bob, Juice? Maybe you're addressing that to Bobby Eli. My wife just told me that she has some business for me: doing the dishes.
What a retirement!
humm, I wish I could retire(comfortably)...I'd love to do the dishes, the cooking, cleaning, the soothing, rubbing & the loving all night long, and never having to sign in with 8 hrs ahead of me...instead, go on a cruise for at least 3 weeks...First I have to find a companion (LOL).
I don't know about "all night long," Medusa, but soothing and rubbing sounds good to a retired fella :-) It was good to chuckle first thing in the morning ... thanks for that, Medusa.
Good afternoon all,
Hey Bob F: I'm praying to see the day when I can hit 66. I'll be 44 this month & so many people my age are dropping like flies. I'd be quite happy to be like you....relaxing & getting a nice massage every now & then.
Perhaps if I hit Mega Millions (looks like someone stole my winning ticket again), I can hire Medusa. Hey Medusa, what'cha think. If I hit Lotto, can a brother hire you as his masseusse??? I don't mean that in a demeaning way. You would be well paid for your services :-)
Hey Juice!
Be careful what you wish for :-) ; adding years is good but not without problems. And thanks for your kind-hearted comments about the Stax set!! Although I'm retired, my wife is still working, and if she sees that I'm sticking to my "new interest," I'm sure that she'll consider a Stax gift on some upcoming occasion. With my talk about Social Security, I'm beginning to sound like those old people who love to say, "I wish I could, but I'm on a fixed income." Peace and long life to you! I'm sorry to hear that so many of your contempories are passing.
Good evening all!
Hey Bob, thank you for your kind words! I hear what you're saying. You know, a lot of people that I knew who've passed on had silent killers such as high blood pressure. Some folks don't believe that fire burns & ignore the warnings.
Some folks did irreperable damage during those Disco days & living the high life. Back then, people really had no idea of what they were getting into. Most figured that the drinking & drugs were just a rite of passage & something that went with the club life. Few knew the long term ramifications of those "fun" nights. Even fewer believed that they'd end up with a long term habit that they couldn't shake easily, if they shook it at all.
Even if some of them beat it, the damage was still done. You can only beat up your body for so long before it rebels against you. For some, they just didn't quit soon enough, the damage was done. I feel fortunate in that I never went in for that stuff. I was known as a "square" DJ. A "friend" told me that I didn't drink, didn't snort & didn't smoke herb. He was silly enough to think that was boring. I was more than happy to be "boring". Drugs didn't interest me, drinking didn't interest me & I only have a drink on occassion. I'm a sissy drinker, nothing stronger than 8% alcohol.
Boring? I think not! Juice did love the ladies & thankfully, they loved me right on back :-) Never had to go to the clinic either. Guess I was born at the right time! I thank God for blessing me, with the wrong parental guidance, it could've been me. Fortunately, Mom taught me how to walk my own way & that was one of the most valuable lessons of many that she taught me. It's a blessing to me that she's still teaching all of us lifes' lessons!!
God is good!! What a lady I've got!!! You only get one, you only get one!!! :-)
Bob, may you live long & prosper my friend!
