Medusa

A possible date is Friday 16TH July at the Cass Cafe.

It will just be a get together at the bar.

The following day we unveil Darrel Banks headstone at DMP.

I can't make it this year, unless I win the lottery. So, whilst you are all at The Cass Cafe bar, I will be there in 'spirit'.

David,
Please let me know the exact dates you'll be here...George Katsakis is playing at a club called the 14th Street Grille in Madison Heights, and would love everyone to come up there and any one who wants can sit in, can! He needs to let the owner know so they can accommodate everyone! Is the Cass Cafe written in stone, or should we do what we did last year...come to the bar after the Cass Cafe soiree.
Looking forward to it!!!!

Why not wear made up badges with SDF in BIG letters and your name below ?

That's how they do it at science fiction conventions - or at least they did when I used to
go to them.

Hello Harry Dhesi - It's always great to see you. I'm still looking for meaningful events for you. There is nothing announced for the Fox Theater. By the end of June I will know a little more. I've looked at Motown Museums events, and their next big event is in October.

RJ's Rhythm Rockers will be at Eastowne Lounge on July 14th, 9:30pm

Concert of Colors at Chene Park is July 16th, 17th 18th. I do not know the line up except for Little Richard.

Bakers Keyboard, Sunday 1-3pm in the afternoon, Blues to Gospel Brunch, Women in Rhythm & Blues.

Don't forget to check out the Hard Rock Cafe. I've never been there.

http://www.hardrock.com/locati ons/cafes/cafes.aspx?lc=DETR

I'll check the Chronicle today to see what events they have listed for that period.

Hi David;
When SisD refers to "DETROIT Jimmy Scott" that is the kid in 1960 who had that 45 you speak of. Don't know if he had any other records after that. (?) Perhapds SisD can fill you in on the 411.

DMeikle - Yes, that is the Jimmy Scott who recorded "Rained..." Do you have any other recordings by him?

The last time I saw Jimmy at Greektown, I met quite a few interesting artist who attended the show. Not only does Jimmy's "bassist" show off, his whole band is great as well. :-)

Bobby Eli - I wish you were coming. I missed you the last time you were in the City. I had a special place I was going to take you. Maybe next time.

Rib and Soul Festival at Hart Plaze. One of the background vocals for Ali Woodson informed us that they were going to perforrm at the Festival. However, none of the literature I've seen has Ali's name on it. The leaflets say:

ConfunkShun
Howard Hewitt
Enchantment
Larry Lee (whoever he is)
Vanessa Bell Armstrong
Carl Carlton

I don't know which day these artist will be performing (16, 17, 18). Vanessa will probably perform on the Sunday, the 18th.

Perhaps Deborah can let us know when Enchantment will perform.

I would like to make the SDCC45 chapter meeting.
Also, are David and Lowell planning a get together akin to last May's Cafe Detroit shindig ?!?!

Hello Gary, Leo B and all Sd members:

On June 26th on a thread called Who's coming to the SD gathering in July. I asked the question how many people would be coming to the get together like last year, only a half a dozen people responded and not all of them were coming.

So I made the offer that anyone could come to the SD45CC monthly shindig and still meet and talk. It would not be the big blow out as last year, but it would be a good time and you could meet other individuals who enjoyed the same thing.

So Gary & Leo B and anyone else the SD45CC monthly meeting is on Thursday July 15th at the Woodward Brewery in Ferndale 1 block South of 10 Mile on the east side of Woodward Ave. It is a two story building we will be upstairs on the second floor by the windows.

The ones with the 45's!!!

I am a little disappointed that so few expressed an interest and that most people could not make it because of other commitments. But thats the way things go.

So to answer your questions; is there a big SD get together like last year, NO
Will there be a SD45CC meeting in July, Yes on the 15th at Woodward Brewery.

Thats how it went, If you look at the post you will see some of the reasoning as to why people didnt come and why it is what it is this year.

I do know that David and guest, Joe Moorehouse, Sideburn Slim, Myself and maybe a few others will show up on the 15th.

Your Truly.

Brian...I saw the posts you speak of, but I was under the impression that there was a SDF get-together being planned separate from the monthly SDCC45 event, that's why I asked.

BTW, I like the Woodward Brewery for its' atmosphere, but sometimes it's really hard to fully appreciate the music because of all the crowd noise. Still, we have a good time there and it would be nice if more SD'ers could make it

At any rate, I'll be at the July 15 meeting, but cemeteries creep me out, so I'll take a pass on the Darrell Banks ceremony.

Hey Gary:

I believe we were originally trying to get a SD thing happening seperate from the 45 thing. We just did not get enough interest to spend the time and money involved to pull it off.

Yes I like the WAB and on a weekday it is a little less hectic. If we can find an other place I have no problems changing it at all.

See you soon.

Perhaps, at around 8:00, I will go to the first show at Greektown which starts at 9:00pm. It will probably last 30-45 minutes. Then, I will go over to see ConFunkShun. I am to meet some out of town friends of ConFunkShun.

I'm expecting at least one other name to be there too.
