Listening to "Let It Rock" on the way to work, the Dave Edmunds version off "Subtle As A Flying Mallet" brought up questions in my minds ear....

1) Your favorite Chuck Berry cover
and
2) Your favorite non Berry Berry song.

For 1), Seger's version of "Let It Rock" off "Smokin' OP's" is a good example, and for 2), "Berry Rides Again" by Steppenwolf from their first LP, although most early Beach Boy songs would do.

1) The Beatles-Roll Over Beethoven

2) The Beach Boys-I Get Around- Although it's not as lyrically rich as the best of Chuck Berry, its got that great observational stuff that's straight out of Chuck's playbook. Love the verses.
