Vonnie and I had the pleasure of going to the booksigning for our dear friend (Little) Jimmy Scott's book "Faith In Time...The Life Of Jimmy Scott authored by David Ritz who authored the wonderful Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and Ray Charles biographies.
Jimmy was there along with his wife Jeanie, David Ritz and his daughter Alison and my lady Vonnie.
After the rap session and the signing which was held at the main branch of the library, they all went via limo back to NYC where Jimmy was appearing at Birdland.I could not go, as I had a gig with Herb Johnson and the Impacts which was a load of fun indeed and harkened back to the old days. There was a contingent there from the U.K. as well.
I strongly recommend the Jimmy Scott book as it delves into the insight and wonderful recollections of the legendary artist and makes a great read.

Hi Mel,

Affirmative on both counts!! He does all of the songs he was noted for . At 66 years of age and having arthritis as well as taking more than his share of a few nips, he still sings like a bird.
In this version of the Impacts, it is record collector/ Philly Archivist DaveBrown on drums, who incidentally plays his as off, former Tramps basist Rusty Jackmon on bass, and myself on guitar. It is hard to believe that as a teen I was an original Impact and here I am still making an Impact. Philly Archives www.phillymusicarchives.com has just released the definitive Herb Johnson c.d. and it is a must have.
Incidentally, Weldon M. thanks you for saying such kind words about him. And btw, he unearthed some unreleased Eddie Holman and Preludes sids to be released soon.

Bobby, did you play on any of Herb's records?

"I'm So Glad" is one of my favorite Northern soul records, BTW.

Best,

Mark
