Wow! What a blast!
Reminds me of the old Atlantic/Atco sleeves!

There was an even earlier style Jamie sleeve that went with some of the Duane Eddys (the ones that didn't have special picture covers).

David,
When I was in Detroit last month I managed to find a copy of the Vandella's "Live" LP that was recorded at The 20 Grand. I also bought a bunch of other Motown LPs for around a dollar each at Bob May's. It may seem crazy - but because of the weight of my baggage I left all the vinyl there and just brought back the sleeves...they're now framed and hanging on my living room wall.

I just picked up "1,000 Record Sleeves" by Michael Ochs. I think it's a German publication (TASCHEN),2001.
It's great--wonderful covers. Has Motown ever released a book of its record covers?

I can recommend the now sadly deleted hard-back book by Daniel Delorme, called, "Fabulous EP Covers"...all R'n'B & Motown acts...and it's just of all the French released sleeves.

Hello Graham,

Clay and I were looking forward to meeting you but we never got together. Did you come with your new bride?

I have Tammi's albums ready to frame, it took a while but just this week I finally got all of them off of Ebay...They will look great on the wall - it's inspiring too!

Were Vent, Arctic, and Phil-LA records routinely sold in Jamie sleeves? I like to keep my core 45s in the kinds of sleeves they would have been sold in originally, and currently have those three labels housed in plain white or brown sleeves. But I've got a bunch of Jamie sleeves I can transfer them into if someone can confirm that they would have been packaged like that on release. Thanks.

Joe,

Probably - look at the sleeve in the centre of
the photo - "distributed by Jamie/Guyden"

J/G distributed dozens of labels during the sixties - I'd imagine they used those bags to make it easier for record shops to remember
who the distributor was.

Ed - I'm really sorry that I never got to meet up with yourself and Clay on my last visit. I have a 45 for Clay that I'm going to mail him (from Taiwan) and hopefully we'll get a chance to meet at some point in the future.
Best wishes, Graham

Have you got that one framed?
