TEMPTATIONS FANS; LETS NOT FORGET AN INTREGAL PART OF THE ORIGINAL TEMPTATIONS...GUITARIST AND BAND LEADER CORNELIUS GRANT. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF OTIS WILLIAMS, CORNELIUS HAS BEEN WITH GROUP LONGER THAN ANYONE ELSE. HE'S ALSO A REALLY NICE GUY. I FIRST MET HIM IN ABOUT 1965. HE ATTENDED MUMFORD HIGH SCHOOL AND KNEW MY BROTHER (ALSO A MUSICIAN). WHEN I TOLD HIM WHO I WAS, HE ASKED ABOUT BY BROTHER AND STRUCK UP A NICE CONVERSATION. SINCE THEN, I HAVE RUN INTO CORNELIUS ABOUT ONCE EVERY TEN YEARS. NOT ONLY DOES HE ALWAYS REMEMBER ME, BUT INVARIABLY SAYS...HOW'S YOUR BROTHER DOING...LIKE WE JUST SPOKE A WEEK AGO. ANY OTHER CORNELIUS GRANT FANS OUT THERE???

Stu,

Definitely - the Temps without Cornelius is like
the Miracles without Marv Tarplin

Stu:
Whenever the Original Tempts performed live, good ol' Melvin Franklin would always end the group introductions with "Our Musical Director is Cornelius Grant and I am, yours truly, Melvin Franklin." This showed what a vital role Cornelius had (and still has) with the Tempts.

By the way, Cornelius - like Marv Tarplin - played on many Tempts sessions and co-wrote their Top Ten smash "(I Know) I'm Losing You."

Regards,
KevGo

MILLIE; I LIVED ON SANTA BARBARA BETWEEN 7 MI RD AND WEST OUTER DRIVE...A STONES THROW FROM SMOKEY ROBINSON...I USED TO HELP HIS VALET WASH HIS GREEN CADILLAC ON MY WAY HOME FROM SCHOOL. BY THE WAY, I SAW SMOKEY ABOUT A MONTH AGO AT THE GOLF COURSE IN L.A. AND HE LOOKS GREAT. I SAW A LOT OF MOTOWN HISTORY AND LEGENDS HANGING AROUND HIS HOUSE. THE PICKLE PLACE SOUNDS FAMILIAR, BUT I CANT QUITE PLACE IT. ANYWAY, THANKS FOR ASKING. BY THE WAY, MY LAST NAME IS NOT BASS. IT WAS MY AXE.

Now Sue, tell the truth..we know you took creative writing at Mumford!

Davie...there was huge barrel filled with kosher dill pickles! The place was really called Grunt's too! It was next door to a deli so just imagine the wonderful smells that permeated the air! Yummy!

Ralph...Al DiNoble's in town and I'll be having dining with him Friday night!! You took driver's training at Mumford?? Aha, that explains it!!!

Stu, what's your real last name?
