Amen , Ralph. One problem with communicating solely through the typewritten word is that things like facetiousness (sp) and irony just don't translate well. The 'dozens' and ranking et all have their place, but it's hard to know exactly where someone is coming from emotionally when you can't hear their voice or see their face. I'd hate to lose any valued member of the forum because it's so easy to maybe overreact to spontaneously typewritten posts (or awkwardly worded well-intentioned ones like this)

I've been on this forum for nearly a year now. There was just a handful of us at first and it was always an event when someone new showed up. So look what has happened in the space of one short year. I really do believe that Soulful Detroit is the definitive authority on classic R&B, internet or any other place. Everyone who has come on here has brought something interesting to the table,or has asked thought provoking questions. Therefore I hate to lose a single person. The things I have learned from everyone here never ceases to amaze me. So I suggest we put this past week or so behind us, make-up and get on with it. I've said it before and I still mean it...this is one of the civilized orginizations I have ever experienced and I'm sure we all pretty much agree on that. The family feud is OVER!

I've been at this forum for maybe a half a year and love it. I belong to many music forums and am semi-active on at least four. I have found this one to be the most interesting, with alot of knowledgable and helpful folks here. It had appeared to me that for the most part we all help each other with information and/or leads to the artists, producers, promotors, etc. etc. This banter (and the one on the Franklin thread) is the only bad-mouthing I've seen here since I'm a member. Honestly I don't read all the threads, but for the most part, this seems like a bunch of mature, likeable, friendly, helpful folk. I guess it's "normal" for an occasional outburst! However, continued attitude problems will usually hurt a forum, and I have seen some completely fall apart if it becomes ongoing. Anyway, David, Davey, Graham, Lowell, and the others who are the head honchos here I am sure will be able to handle this type of situation. In any case, I intend to remain here and to participate in any thread that I feel I can contribute to. Thank you everyone for making this a great place to be part of a family unit!

When it comes to the Internet, I have never had so much fun learning from others and speaking to my musical heroes I have known about for many years, as here on SoulfulDetroit. I can honestly say that I am a better person for knowing the detailed information given here to use in my further education of my musical passion. My personal song writing and interests have had a boost of encouragement from many of the topics covered here since I joined around January. I work shift hours here in London and when I am home I spend time tinkering with songs and anything musical. I do not have many social friends or engagements to attend, so the Movie release in November will be a thrill. Meeting Dennis Coffey and the other guys at his book launch is what I feel this forum is about (did Dennis tell you that I bought him a present when I met him - a plectrum from a shop in Denmark Street?). Meeting Ade at The Metropolitan Soul Club earlier this year was fun, when he flew all the way down from Glasgow to London for an 'all-nighter' here. My wife could not believe her eyes at the width of those trousers Ade! I feel I have found friends on this forum whom I talk to others about at work, when questions are asked of me about Motown or soul in general. I feel we have a unique gathering of individuals with whom we communicate around the world electronically. I know in my heart I wish to meet many of them in the flesh and will do as the months go on. Hopefully I will make Detroit next year for the bash spoken about recently. And when we visit LA, I would hope to catch up with a number of those present on the forum to, if only for them to buy me a drink!! SoulfulDetroit is still my favourite website!

I love healing. It just makes everybody happy. Me too. Regrettably, I do not have time to follow this great forum as closely as I would like to, as my time is consumed with the equally exploding and exciting Discuss Detroit forum.

Believe me; the differences you have here are minor to the squabbles that happen there. However the love and concern for what is being discussed in both forums almost always wins out and everybody is better for it.
