Hi Deborah

This was a British release on Tamla Motown in October 1968, which is probably why you haven't seen it over there. It's long out-of-print, but copies do surface from time to time on eBay and such. It was a "Best of" compilation in all but name. I don't have the tracklisting to hand, but I'll post it later if you like.

An interesting rumour......only 500 copies were pressed in mono and 500 in stereo..hmmm, I suspect a lot of people have this on cassette tape (does anyone remember cassettes!!)

There was a fab picture of Brenda on the cover with her violin. Mind you, Brenda looks even fabber these days - as some lucky people on this site can and will vouch!!

Deborah,

If you look for Brenda's "Greatest Hits and Rare
Classics" CD that'll give you everything that was
on the "Artistry" album plus another six or so tracks. The CD was released in the US about 10
years ago but I'm not sure if it's still available. There's an equivalent UK cd which, I
think, has exactly the same track listing but with
a better cover pic. It was released over here about 4 years ago and is still available as far
as I know.

The "Artistry" album was a UK compilation which
gathered together all of her single A-sides and most of their flips.

Look for the CD - it'll be a lot easier to find
than the album and a lot cheaper.

Mr. Harry Weinger, Motown wizard, has recently been working magic with Motown re-issues. He tries to be fair in releasing both what have been called first and second and (sometimes even third string) artists/groups who recorded for the Motown family of labels. I've heard that some of the releases were influenced by sufficient fan demand. Five Brenda Holloway selections were mined from the vault for the recent "A Cellarful of Motown". Some music reviewers for top magazines and newspapers have called for more Brenda Holloway. It's very likely we'll see more of Brenda's re-issues. Mr. Weinger has posted on this forum before, so I'm sure he'll read your request.

Deborah, this quote is from http://www.gemm.com

"You might try A-1 Record Finders. This company has over 1 million vinyl LP titles that are not yet listed in GEMM. They'll be glad to search their inventory for you if you're serious about obtaining a particular vinyl LP album. Note that they DON'T have CDs or tapes however, just LPs, and that their selection consists of mostly older, pre-1980 material."

GOOD LUCK!
