Deborah that was by a splinter Dramatics' group. Elbert Wilkins and William Howard left the Dramatics (or were dismissed) and formed a new group.

Adding a little more info: this Dramatics group, who cut the aforementioned "No Rebate on Love" for Mainstream, took their former cohorts (who had just signed with ABC) to court over the use of the name 'Dramatics'. They prevailed, and the ABC group was forced to bill themselves as Ron Banks and the Dramatics.

Eventually, the ABC group went back to being known as just "The Dramatics".

Best,

Mark

Their last studio LP on Volt Dramatically Yours LP (1974) and first LP on ABC The Dramatic Jackpot (1975) were by Ron Banks and The Dramatics. From a picture I've seen it looks like Drama V (also 1975) was by just The Dramatics. This is certainly the case for next album Joy Ride (1976).

I came across this pic of The Dramatic Jackpot with no Ron Banks and printed on the front cover and so is different to my copy.

P.S. Is it me or has the text on this site shrunk in the last day or two?

Tony, I thought my computer font settings had went awry. I was going to see if I could adjust it. The font is smaller.

I think Lowell is experimenting.

He is almost finished with a great job on The Fab Ruins Site.

I personally like the new font size especially since we can now get a lot more on the screen.

Might not be to everyone's taste however.

David,

I love the font. You are quite right, we get more on the screen.

David,

I really like the new font size and hope Lowell
keeps it set up this way for the new server

I'm Glad some of you love the new small font but many of us are squinting like Charlie Chan. It would be a great font for the hip hop generation. But not us older guys. I guess we have to deal with it though. What's next 8pt Sans Serif? You can get a lot of info in with that baby.

deborah, the "No Rebate" cut is backed with an absolutely excellent song named "Must Be Love (Can You Feel It?" by that same version of the Dramatics. And isn't it strange that someone in that group sounds exactly like Ron Banks? Anyway, "A Dramatic Experience" LP appears to contain songs by the old and new group. Listen to "Hey You, Get Off Of My Mountain"...isn't that WeeGee? And it's definitly LJ on "Beautiful People" As for that CD Tony B. is referring to, someone came up with a couple of CD's that are named the same as the real ones, but are not the same. I hope all of you Dramatics fans know that there are two versions of "Toast To The Fool", and that the one sung by the original group was never on an album, except for a CD compilation of all of the Stax singles.

Small fonts are always a problem - especially when baptising a large baby.
