Check out our Satintones pages off our Harmony Haven website:

http://members.aol.com/rnbtrain/NEW1A.htm

The second page will list their recordings, including their unreleased material.

Hell, I don't mind typing - or at least cutting and pasting - if it gets the Satintones list up on the forum, maybe someone (I wonder who) will get the requisite double-CD into production:

A love that can never be
Angel
Baby doll
Because I love you
Boogie Woogie Heart
Cause I love you
Continental Strut
Do you feel the same
Even though
Faded letter
Going to the hop
Groovy Track
Hungry Henry
I know how it feels
I love the way you love
I'll stay with you
Living in a memory
Motor City
My beloved
My kind of love
My love for you {3}
Rob Peter to pay Paul
Sugar daddy
Tomorrow & always
The feeling is so fine
You can't beat my lovin'
You cast a spell on me
You don't know it
You'd make a fine son-in-law
Young girl
Your sweet love
Zing went the strings of my heart

Of course, different versions is quite another matter - there are 4 or 5 of some of them.

I don't know how many of them are ballads (the Satintones' forte, in my view): quite a few of the unreleased ones (eg Rob Peter, Cast a spell) are kind of Coasters-ish "comedy numbers". No offence to any members who read this, but "Angel" is still my favourite - the slow version, that is.

But I'd still love to hear them all!

Keith

I think some of the unreleased Satintones songs feature Brian Holland as a member. Brian and the Satintones' bass Robert Bateman later teamed up as the production team BrianBert who produced a lot of the early Marvelettes' tracks. The Marvelettes' first album Please Mr. Postman features a couple of songs originally done by the Satintones.

Mel & everyone...The Satintones group has nothing to do with the Five Masters group! Also Brian Holland and Freddie Gorman were not recording members of the Satintones. Also, Vern Williams after his Satintones days went on to sing/record with the Pyramids. Outside of Vern, there are no other members who are the same (Satintones - Pyramids). Please visit our biography on the Satintones taken directly from the members themselves (Jim Ellis, Chico Leverett, and Vern Williams) whom we interviewed in the late '90's and spent much time with, and still are in contact with all of them today! Please read the info on the URL that I gave in an earlier post on this thread! It will list the group members, what parts they sang, and when, the discography, including unreleased tracks, and thensome. Thank you.

In harmony,

Nikki

Nikki, apologies for the errors,a lot of it comes from items and info over my years on the scene, and until I came onto this web-site I hadnt met anyone with the vast amount of knowledge that is on here. Most of my stuff is just remembering certain records etc with various data that has been listened to or heard about, but after nearly 25years a lot will be errors, but now thanks to this site I can learn from any of my mistakes. After all,I am just a novice collector who still can learn from his mistakes.MEL.
