I'd just like to say that I saw this little bundle of dynamite on Saturday night at Westbury (NY), and she is just incredible!! She absolutely tore the roof off the place with songs like I Feel Good All Over, Put a Little Rush on Me, I Never Knew Love Like This, and, of course, Home.
With Home, she sent the crowd home in a frenzy, like I haven't seen in years.
She was gone for a few years (a few years ago)with personal problems, or so the rumor said, but the talented powerhouse is back! She's never changed her style of singing and she hasn't lost a single step in her voice, unlike some other divas I won't name.
If any of you get the chance to witness this woman in concert, jump on it.....if any of you HAVE seen her recently, I'd be interested in hearing what you thought.
To me, she just keeps getting better and better!

Jim

I hear you, Jim.

Stefanie also performed recently at the Black Expo in NYC. She tore up that joint, too. Yes indeed, Ms. Mills did her thing! The pipes are as strong as ever, and so is the urgency in her vocals. She can still give an audience some serious goosebumps. And even in her mid-40s, she remains cute as a sexy li' button.

Stephanie? Homeless? Day-YUM! Never heard that one. But homelessness must be infectious amongst our greatest female songtress'. I know Melba Moore has admitted to as much (after bad business deals, a crooked husband/manager, a nasty & long-time drug habit, a bitter break-up & losing custody of her only daughter). Any one of those things can seriously kill the spirit of most people, let alone a fragile entertainer in a fickle world of who's hot, who's not. For a while Melba's ordeal it was the talk of certain NYC tabloids.

But, like a mighty phoenix, the sister singer has risen.
Much props on just surviving, Melba! Stephanie too, if that homeless disease struck her as well. She sure looks & SOUNDS wonderful.

Stubass,

I never heard anything about Stephanie ever being homeless. Melba's sitch is very well-documented.

The only semi-scandulous(?) newz to my ear via Stephanie was her tendancy to keep getting married (for short terms-- no pun intended!) again & again. At last count it was four. She recently (as of a couple of years ago) had a baby. Regardless, of what she's been through personally, the sister can STILL blow her li'l azz off!

Moanman...thought it was only twice for Stephanie "The Onion" Mills....Jeffrey Daniels first, and some other guy years later, after she had (to some extent) gotten over the physical and mental abuse J.D. dished out.

Naw, Wicked. You've missed out on a couple, at least. The Daniels marriage was followed by her wedding a popular model-of-the-moment. Forget his name, but as I stated, he a was MOTM & it was short-lived. That was followed by her marrying some Italian cat from Vegas:-P ,I believe, whom she hooked up w/in early 90s. I recall her showing off a big ole ring on local NYC TV when she was still a newlywed. It didn't last long.

Now, I'm assuming, being the sweet traditional Brooklyn/ Mt Vernon girl that she be, that she married the father of her baby. I could be wrong there. But if she did, that would make him hubby number 4, if you're keeping count.

Hey, I ain't casting no shade on her. I gots mad love the Stef-woman. I just hope she's happy at last.

"The Onion", huh? I like that one ;- ).

I loved recording for Motown and let me tell you HDH has nothing on STUBASS....

Moanman: "Back In The Day" Arsenio Hall introduced Stephanie Mills as having the best "Onion" in the business. (LOL) And he may well have been right.....

That is why we need Stephine and the other R&B vocalist of the day. I think Record Companies should change their outlook on the way they treat more established artists. If they're not given the opportunity and the support when an new CD is released and by golly, people cram to see the veterns of R&B and their live shows!

Yo Wicked-man

I seem to recall Stephanie's onion getting MUCH attention after one of her videos in the mid-80s, where she wore a mean li'l black catsuit. It was suddenly like: "Day-YUM! She sho be swollen right around her colon!" So yeah, Arsenio most definitely called it right. The "Onion" be in full-effect.

Hey-- please don't think I'm objectifying the sister, by calling attention to her rather prodigious body-parts, because as I've stated many times, Ms. Mills can truly SANG & she hasn't lost one bit of her range nor appeal on the vocal tip.

peace

Stephanie is the bomb! That girl could steal the show in a live performance from alot of the other ladies/divas who have clout!
