This is a Label
that has always been pretty hard to track down for me personally.
Did Lou Beatty have something to do with this Label?

Artists that I am aware of that recorded on the Label are these:
Ace Jones
The Dynasonics.
and the Superlatives.

Can anyone add any more
and anything else regards this Label.

Also are these Superlatives the same group that recorded
'I still Love You/were so lonely' on
the
Uptite record label which came out on
number 250.

My copy is on an Uptite Blue Label
but it also was released on a red Label and also a Lined Label with the same number.

any info as ever
much appreciated
mel(andthensome)

ps
Apologies if we have covered this before
but I cant remember.

It did come up before Mel but it's worth raising again.

I have it for inclusion in the next webisode which will be SoulfulDetroitTwo.

I believe it was owned by one Butler Abney.

This track was leased to Armen Boladian after it's debut on Dynamics....see DYNA on the label.

Interesting that Armen's Bridgeport Publishing company is on the label too.

Great song

UK Soul Lovers always cite "Lonely In A Crowd," which is a nice midtempo number but the side that got airplay in the States was "Don't Walk Away (I Don't Know To Say I Love You)," which was later redone by Carl Carlton for Backbeat Records.

Hello Mel&thensome:

Is that a hard label to find in the UK?

Or is it that you have just not had any luck?

I will gladly do you a favor and pick up $10.00 worth of 45's on that lable for you in my next record hunt. that could give you anywhere from 3 to 25 records on that lable. Funkadelics, Superlatives, Detroit Emeralds, plus several other really good artist where on that label.

I hunt for record every week here in Detroit.

The story about the folks finding records happens quite a lot. I have had a few experiences like that. I really would rather not broadcast that this does happen in Detroit. I like records and I like to find them first, so there. lol The truth is that you Brits have not gotten all of the 45's that where laying around Detroit!!!

many thanks for the offer.
yeah the Label personally has been one that has eluded me.
As well as the Dynamics label there are quite a few that have eluded me.
but we would be here all day if I got started.

There were only seven releases on the Dynamics label - or are you refering to the Westbound label (scanned above)? There were over a 100 Westbound releases.

I thought so
I was referring to the Dynamics Label.
But if you can get them I am willing to take them off your hands.

The last time I talked with Butler Abney (owner of the Dynamics label) which was about 1985 he was still living at the 16th address listed on the label. at that time I purchased his entire backstock of records and was selling them until I sold out. all those releases were recorded in a studio that he set up in the garage in the back of the house . when "Don't Walk Away" took off aguy (I won't name) who had helped produce it and knew more about the business made the deal with Armen at Westbound. Armen paid this person some $50'000 afterward thinking since this person owned the label Butler remained very bitter about this, and I told him I knew where this person was he said don't tell me because I don't want to go to jail. I first met Butler Abney in1966 when I cut a dub on his first record.
