A favourite artist of mine is
McKinley Mitchell.
to me personally one of the greatest soul singers that never achieved his early promise.
Another of Chicago's great, great talents that should of made it big time.
what happened?

As I sit here listening to
'watch over me/I'm ready'
on Onederful Records
just 2 great soul sides from an artist who I only seem to have bits and bobs of varied information about,
it really amazes me yet again how somebody so good is heard one day then gone the next.

Can anyone give me any in-depth information regards this great Soul Singer(andthensome)

He recorded one of the best ballads ever in "The Town I Live In". Reached no.8 R&B in 1962.

3 45's for Onederful. Worked with our hero, Monk Higgins, and Kig Kolax.

Hit #71 R&B with "The end of our Rainbow" on Chimneyville in 1977.

I have an album of his which I think is on Chimneyville. His rendition of "Town" is classic on that album too.

He also recorded on Malaco too.

Died in the eighties.
