I see that the Muscles Shoals Studios, Alabama are up for sale, details on E bay. Manageress, Suzanne Harris is wanting £400,000 ($650,000) for it. Its rhythm section, Jimmy Johnson, David Hood, Barry Beckett & Roger Hawkins were sought by every top act in the world. Don Davis, Tony Hestor, Dennis Coffey....all `our` greats went there too. Keith

let every poster on here make a donation and lets buy it - i'm sure there'll be no disagreement about the type of music we want recorded in there

ian We could even start recording as it is being sold as a working concern, complete with 2 Hammond B's and a grand piano. Keith

There'a already a thread on this subject in the forum with some interesting thoughts - also checkout the Southern Soul discussion group on Yahoo where several former MSS musicians have commented.
Having recently paid a visit to the studios and seen what is on offer - it is absolute bargain and a wonderful location.
I still think that it should be taken over by the Alabama Musical Hall of Fame which is only down the road and run as going concern to preserve something which is an important part of US musical heritage. The original studio at 3614 Jackson Highway is still lying empty so it doesn't bode well.
It is hard to conceive that both places will be lost. When I got home I went through my record collection and was staggered at the number of soul records which were recorded at both studios.
