This morning I received a phone call from Ms. Barbara Mason, and she informs me of new music, and a single with Johnny Ingram, a cover of Marvin and Tammi's standard, "If This World Were Mine." How exciting!

Nish:
What label is releasing Barbara's CD?

Kev:
I think BMG, which is fantastic!
Leon Ware, Betty Lavette, and Barbara Mason and Bunny Sigler all in one year, be still my heart.

Pardon My ignorance, Who is Johnny Ingram? Any relation to James & Philip Ingram?

Johnny Ingram is a longtime Philly stalwart who's now touring with the Funk Brothers as a singer.
Once played drums for Patti LaBelle if I'm remembering correctly.

p.s. Johnny is Sweetheart of Sigma (and fellow Funks singer) Carla Benson's cousin, not sure of his relation to the other Ingrams ..

Johnny Ingram is one of the Ingrams' siblings from Camden, NJ, which included the late Norman "Butch" Ingram, who produced Barbara Mason in the '70s, and Barbara Ingram. They are of no relation to the Ingrams (James and Philip) from Akron, Ohio.

Thanks Sue & Scratcher!

Really! Now, that's interesting - BMG releasing a Barbara Mason CD. If that's the case, congrats to her!

Keith Benson, Carla's brother and former Philadelphia International session drummer was featured in the movie as one of the background singers. Don't know if he's on the tour or not.

Butch Ingram is not dead. He is president of the label Barbara Mason has recorded for. The label I think will be distrubuted through BMG.
Butch Ingram is leader of the group the Ingrams. The had some a few hot Lp's in the 80's. Butch is also the brother of the late Barbara Ingram who along with Carla Benson backed most of the singers who recorded out of Philly in the 80's at Sigma Sound Studio. Butch also was writer and producer of Barbara's big hit, "Another Man".

My bad Alofton, I got Butch confused with his sister Barbara.
Barbara Mason didn't have a lot of good things to say about Butch in an interview she did about six years ago so it's surprising to hear they're doing business together again.
The Ingrams (seven siblings)first came out as the Ecstasies minus Butch who was pursuing a career in basketball that was aborted by an injury at which point he taught himself the bass. "Another Man" was sampled by the Notorius Big.
Bobby Eli can inform us about Butch Ingram since they worked at one time for W.M.O.T. Productions.

Yo NISH 66.119.33.135 I am a close friend of Barbara from Rochester, NY. Would you ask her to give me a call? She had changed her telephone number again and I think she told me early she was thinking about moving. Tell her to give Alvin a call. THANKS
