After there big hit with
'The boy from New York City'
at the end of January,1965
The Ad Libs(once The Cheers)hitting the u.s.of a's soul charts entering the top 10 with the above 45 were unable to repeat the same thing again.

They recorded a few other 45s for the
Blue Cat Label
such as
'on the corner'
'downhome girl'
and 2 personal favourites of mine
'he aint no angel'
along with 'johnny my boy'
and another called
'oo wee'.

So after about 2 years with Blue Cat records they then recorded a record for Mercury Records
titled
'you're in love'
although it was for the Mercury label it was produced by the same production team that had done there other releases.

It is around 1967 by now
when the Ad Libs travel to Detroit
to record for the famous Karen/Carla record Label with such well known artists at that time of
The Capitols,Deon Jackson and Barbara Lewis as well as others.

All under the experienced eye of
Mr Ollie McLaughlin
as well s others.

But for some reason
things just never worked out
does anyone recall anything from this time in the late 60's?

Apparantly at the end of 1968
the Ad Libs were chopping and changing again regards various group members,
with a variation of The Ad Libs
then going on to eventually do some work with the Late great Van McCoy and his Share record label.

Anyway
I would appreciate any info regards any of the above and as always
I apologise if theres any errors.

Mel,

I think they just cut one record at Karen. At least, only one was released. It was released on 1527.
