"QUICKSAND" AND "HEATWAVE" WERE A NICE ONE/TWO/THREE PUNCH IN 1963 FOR MARTHA AND THE VANDELLAS (GIVING THEM A PATENTED AND RECOGNIZABLE SOUND)...HOLLAND DOZIER AND HOLLAND (LETTING THEM KNOW THAT THEY COULD PRODUCE FORMULAS WHICH WOULD BE COMMERCIALLY ACCEPTED)...AND BERRY GORDY (CONTINUING THE GROWTH OF MOTOWN WHICH ASSURED THAT THE COMPANY WOULD ESTABLISH ITSELF AS MUCH MORE THAN JUST BERRY AND SMOKEY'S LABEL)!!!...STUBASS

And both of those records "Heat Wave" & "Quicksand" sound as fresh an exciting today as they did 40 years ago.Martha was 22 when those hit the charts(gosh, I was 12).My "Heat Wave" 45 still has the .79 price sticker from Murphys Dime Store Hollywood, Fl.My parents let me & Randy pick out & buy 1 45 a week...they really could only afford to get us albums at Christmas or birthdays in '62/'63.

OR YOU COULD SAY "FRUIT PUNCH R&B!!!...YOU'RE RIGHT..."COME AND GET THESE MEMORIES" WAS A HUGE VANDELLAS R&B HIT!!!...THE REASON THAT I MENTIONED "QUICKSAND" AND "HEATWAVE" IS THAT THEY HAD A VERY SIMILAR FEEL!!!...STUBASS

Well, the 6th August 2003 is tipped to be one of the hottest day ever, here in the UK, 'cause we're having a heatwave. Martha would be proud. It is hot air blowing in from Africa and causing serious fires all over Europe. Portugal has been badly hit. Even our railway lines could be buckling with the heat. I read today an 18mph speed limit in Paris imposed, to cut down smog.

Heatwave in Great Britain? What is the temperature? 70 degrees? That was a joke, Carl.

All bets are off! We are on target for 100 degrees, so lets wait and see if the weather predictions are correct.
