Where's Claudette? was she gone form the group when this show happened?
Vickie
| |
Yes... she stepped down in '64 to tend to family matters. I have a shot of them live in '63 at a Murray the K show that I'll be posting soon. Stay Tuned !

Vickie:
Claudette Robinson stopped touring & making television appearances with the Miracles in 1965 due to health reasons (she was trying to conceive and failed several times until their children Berry Robinson & Tamla Robinson were born in 1968 and 1970 respectively).
She continued to record with Smokey & the Miracles until Smokey left the group in 1972. She (along with Smokey) made her last appearance with the original Miracles on their live album "1957 - 1972".

I believe this Ed Sullivan performance is actually available on DVD. It's called "Ed Sullivan's Rock and Roll Classics, Vol. 3 - The Soul of the Motor City". It is currently part of a box set (that's what I have), but it will be available as a standalone title on July 22. The DVD compiles three episodes of the series that aired on VH-1 highlighting vintage pop & rock performances from the Ed Sullivan show.
Anyone care to hazard a guess as to what color their suits were.
Regards,
Ken

Ken:
Right on, amigo - the Smokey appearance is on DVD.
BTW - the suits were dark burghundy (sp) with black trim and the shirts were pink.
