What is the name of this song and what cd/album is it on?
It is a Marvin Gaye song, that was played in the movie Baby Boy. It goes:
It's too late for you and me,
it's too late for you and I
much too late for you to cry.
That's all I know of the song, it was played when Yvette went to Jodie's house to get JoJo and he told her to get out his house. She got back in the car crying and said "he don't love me no mo'.

I think it may be a song from the Hear, My Dear album. Unsure of the title right now, but I do know it's available on cd now.

Could it be "When Did You Stop Loving Me, When Did I Stop Loving You" from "Here My Dear"?

I think its JUST TO KEEP YOU SATISFIED, the closing song on the LET'S GET IT ON album.

Reese is correct - I just checked my Marvin collection. It's the closing verse to "Just To Keep You Satisfied."

Thank you so much for the info. I have the Hear My Dear album and I knew it wasn't on there. I use to have the Let's Get It On album but lost it somewhere. Ok, here's another one. Which album/cd is My Last Chance or My Last Dance on?
By RD (65.150.228.147) on Wednesday, July 09, 2003 - 11:58 pm: |
MzMusik, I have "My Last Chance" on some Slow Jam various artists compilation CD.
I thought it was on the Marvin Gaye Collection, and it might be, but it's listed as "My Last Chance" a.k.a. "I Love You Secretly"; well those are two different songs; so I don't know what's up there or if the a.k.a. is a typo.

MzMusic;
It's "Just To Keep You Satisfied" there is 2-versions on his "Vulnerable"CD- my favorite! He originally had that song in mind for The Originals, love their version too as well as Angie Bofill's. To me it's Marvin's best CD.

Soul Sister:
The original version of "Just To Keep You Satisfield" was done by the Monitors (and it's superb!).
Marvin cut the Originals' version afterwards...

Motown Forever;
Thanks for mentioning that. I've heard the superb version on Felix Hernandez's Rhythm Revue radio program, he has such a great record collection. Wish I had a copy of it!

The Monitors' version is available on the deluxe CD edition of Marvin's "Let's Get It On."
I love listening to Felix's program on Saturdays when I'm home. He never fails to amaze me with his awesome selection of rare & obscure Soul/R&B songs!

The name of the song is "Just to Keep You Satisfied" from the Let's Get It On album. One of my favorite Marvin songs!!!! I love the lyrics. I think the song was about his relationship with his first wife Anna.
