Hi SB
Another new one to me.
Thoroughly enjoyed the simple, but highly effective, presentation.
Thanks
David

I recall someone mentioning, that Motown put out an artist roster, with pictures every year during the 60's.I wouldn't mind seeing one of those.Anyone have one they can scan?

Hey David. My bad.
I assumed you were involved w/the website I posted last night upon noticing the words Northern Soul in the short description I also posted. I hadnt read up on the links before posting them last night. I glanced over them and especially the Sixties Motown link, but decided to read both from start to finish today. I just finished reading up on them, and Ill say I do declare!
Lets just put it out there. IMO - we would not be here if not for Berry Gordy and his parents and probably his siblings. And I am not just talking about the SOULFUL DETROIT, website either. The success that black artists have achieved over the years might not have happened on the scale that it has, in retrospect, and for real, if not for Berry Gordy.
If Berry had not had the vision aspiration desire and fortitude to conceive believe and ultimately achieve his dreams and goals then many of the black artists living in American, might not have been borne at all. (As it pertains to music and the entertainment industry IMO)
Black music might not have grown, flourished and succeeded, in the way and by the leaps and bounds that it did, as it pertains to the Motown era and since that era, if not for Berry. And needless to say black music or shall I say the music that came from a black place, face and perspective, and at that time most certainly would not have made such an impact in the Music business in general, or in the music record and history books of the World - if not for one man. Wow!
Whether one loves, hates or is indifferent to him, and the mark he has made on music the whole world over - he still has made a profound and everlasting impression, indeed.
Berry Gordy - heres to you Soul Brother. Here's to "The Soul Soundtrack Of Our Lives", = MOTOWN.
Thank you Berry Gordy. Thank God for you Berry, and Thank God for blessing you. Youve certainly been a treasure and a blessing to many. Way to go Berry.
And who knew: Marvin Gaye won The Cleveland Open Golf Championships. Way to have carried it Marvin.
I had heard quite a bit of the information listed on the above link before yet I still learned a tremendous amount. I truly enjoyed the update and relate.
I was delighted to be reminded of some of my all time favorite records also. Of course, all the ones listed on the Sixties Motown link are notable and honorable, but I will only list these four. Im not sure but I dont remember these four mentioned in the Pic Fave Slow Song Thread. (Sorry if they were mentioned) And I loved them to no end.
The Marvelettes - My Baby Must Be A Magician
Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - If You Can Want
Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - Baby, Baby, Don't Cry
Marvin Gaye - Too Busy Thinking About My Baby
Too much!

Yes, Berry was brilliant. Now he is brilliantly rich, while quite a few of his stars are exceedingly broke. My heart goes out to the children of some of the stars who came through those famous doors.
