Thanks Jay...I found the web site for the fair and see that Bobby Caldwell, Phoebe Snow, Maxie Priest and Vonda Shepard are appearing with them. I assume this is a fairly large fair (comparable to the one in Paso Robles), considering the line up of shows. I'd like to just move down there and go to shows starting on 7/11 with Diana Krall (I love jazz too), and stay through the 30th to catch Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald! If any of you SO CA people have info or suggestions on where to stay, etc. I would really appreciate it if you emailed me, Daroreilly@aol. Now I just have to find someone to make the trek with me!

By the way...I checked out the line up for Paso Robles and Steely Dan, Bob Dylan, and Kenny Loggins (with Lee Ritenour this time) are all performing within a day or two of the scheduled Costa Mesa shows for a fraction of the ticket price...(just in case any of you are interested in these artists)!

The Funks gave a great performance on the 4th at Summerfest! They played for about 2 hours with the core group (The Funks plus the Phily musicians) plus 2 local horn players. Here's the set list:
Uptight
How Sweet It Is
It's A Shame
I Heard It Through The Grapevine
Function At The Junction
Here Come The Judge
Pride & Joy
Shotgun
What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted
Stop In The Name Of Love
I Was Made To Love Her
My Baby Loves Me (Uriel's Song - He seems to like playing that one.)
Where Did Out Love Go
Baby Love
Needle In A Haystack
Cool Jerk
Ain't No Mountain
What's Going On
My Girl

Once again the Funks met with people and signed autographs after the show.

Hi Steve Litos,
Now THAT must've been quite the excitement, as you've witnessed Motown history some 40 plus years later, and way past their just due!

The 'FUNKS' are scheduled, I believe, slated to perform here, locally in the Detroit area at the Meadow Brook Music Theater... sometime in August(?).

Maybe someone can corraborate further on this?
But anyway this time, whenever they may return, I plan to be there!

Jim,
Are you still confused on the Funks date at Meadow Brook? It's Aug. 21.

And Steve, what do you look like? I was at Milwaukee ...

Hey Sue - Caucasian, Age 32, Five Foot 8, brown hair, practically bald with hair shaved very close, blue eyes. I was sitting about the 5th row bench center. I was there kinda early.

Hey there are a lot of guys who look like you! (laugh). I was walking back and forth from backstage. The Funk wives were sitting in the bleachers stage right, I was over there a bit, then back in about row 15 to the right.

I posted it before, but Uriel Jones told me he couldn't watch that young kid dancing onstage to a goofy (non)beat, he was afraid it would throw him off his rhythm! But he admired the kid's spirit ...
