Unbelievable...

Back in the day BEFORE your Hot Wax things a few mutual friends used to rave about you all the time.
They were Lois Sneed and Dorothy Norwood.
I was doing some secular things with Lois at the time.

Hi Laura

Welcome to SoulfulDetroit!

It is a pleasure to see you here.

Released in March 1966, "To win your heart" is a fabulous record. It has given thousands of people many hours of pleasure on the Northern Soul scene.

I wonder what happened to the co-writer Linda Bunten? Do you remember her?

Why did you only have one recording for Ed and JoAnne...that is another mystery?

Thanks for taking time to come on to the forum and PLEASE stay in touch.

David

ps Ritchie..what a great pic.

Laura Lee !!! As J Lester mentioned ... Royalty indeed. Thanks for all the great music. Some of my personal favorites are from the late-Invictus period - such as "If You Can't Beat My Rockin" & "I Need It Just as Bad as You" among them. Those cuts are funkin' HARD!! But one of my all-time favorites is the heavy funk-classic "Crumbs Of the Table". Devastating combo of music & vocal. THANK-YOU

Hey, I don't know if you're takin' questions Laura, but I'm curious how much touring you did in your HDH/Invictus days.

Peace & Respect, Rich

LOVED "Dirty Man" on the Chess label. Great
that you are back and ready to perform. Hope
you DO come to Florida and perhaps you should
make a PBS TV special--they are ALWAYS looking

love good R&B/Soul of the '60s & '70s.
You should contact (or have your agent contact)

I'm sure they'd love to here from you!

Hi Laura

Good to see that you have arrived on one of the most friendly places on the Net.

I would publicly like to thank you for the great time we had in Memphis - Jan, Nick, Ray, John x2 and Mo send their love from the UK and we miss you.

Just to let everyone know that Laura will be featured in a in-depth interview in the UK magazine In The Basement in the July edition. If people want to order a copy please e-mail itb@basement-group.co.uk. Laura also features in the UK Northern Soul magazine Togetherness in my regular column which next month is a photo diary of my recent trip to Memphis. You can get copies from goldsoul@firstnet.co.uk My friend Ray Ellis will also be featuring Laura in the UK magazine Juke Blues available from juke@jukeblues.com

I was fortunate along with a few other UK soul fans to hear Laura sing in Al Green's church in April and she was dynamite!!! I can't wait to hear he perform again.

Take care Laura and its so good to have you back.

Going back to your post on June 19 - The Debonaires' Golden World 45 "How's Your New Love Treating You" also has J Bratton and L Bunten credited as the songwriters. But one of the singers told me it was actually written by Staunton and Walker. Maybe they had a hand in penning Laura's song too?

I provided my personal original albums and newspaper articles for those UK CD releases. The record company simply scanned the pictures and produced the artwork from them. Anyone with a scanner and the original album should be able to let you have what you want. Sadly I do not have a scanner.

Funny you should say that, Mel - she did once ave her eyes set on a modelling career, but was held back by family disapproval. Oh, well - modelling's loss was music's gain - eh? :o)

Thanks, Ralph. I just had an email from Laura saying how happy she is with the result. Considering all the discussions there have been recently regarding the state of the current music scene, I'm delighted to be able to help promote someone who is genuinely blessed with talent. Like me, I'm sure everyone here wishes her nothing but success on her return to the spotlight.

Great pic of one Beautiful lady Ritchie !! Once again, I must quote that great American orator Richard Pryor: "Blow hair, butter color, breath smelled like Carnation milk ! That girl was fine, Jack !"
