Hello,
I just talked to Peter Rivera from my old group and he said I should check out your website, so here I am. I've been in the studio for the last seven weeks recording and mixing my new CD. It will initially be released on my new website which will be up and running soon.
Congratulations on your website, it's good to see that there is still a lot of interest in the Detroit music scene.
Sincerely, Rod Richards

Welcome Rod!
The last time I saw you was on the A&M Records lot in LA when you came by to say hello with Steve Fischer in 1975...you were on your way to play some golf which I understand you're still doing!! I just wrote Pete on his thread...feels like the old days at the Cliche'! You're gonna love it here and you're going to reunite with old friends as well as making new ones!

Hey Rod, whats happining,it's been a long time since Sullivans and your fine first year mustang car.Remember the Martiniques, Barbra Adams and her husband Mike Terry waiting for her the last couple of sets.
Nice to see your still doing well.

Hey Rod,
It's Ralph Terrana. Man, how many years has it been? Good to see you here. As Millie pointed out, this is quite the place. Kind of a Field Of Dreams for musicians. Best of luck with the new CD Rod. Keep us posted on that.

Hi Rod,

I'm so pleased you finally made it here - I can finally tell you how much I love your guitar work on "Number One Man" (on the "Ecology" album)-
a text book example of how to construct guitar breaks that are interesting, exciting and above all concise. I wish that track had been a single.

I've been wondering where you've been - I lost track of you when Road broke up. It's great to
hear you're still playing and I'll look forward to the new CD.

Did you play in any bands before Rare Earth ?

Davie

Hey Rod,after seeing the other threads(RARE EARTH) I pulled out a video that I transfered from super 8 MM from when we played the dairy workers hall, and you were with the teen beats. This is about 1962 or so.Theres you with the teen beats,us(5ive Invictas),thunder rocks, spidels,Wade and the nationals.I'll have to watch it some more to see if I can remember the other 2wo groups in it,one of the other groups has an accordian player in the group, but cant remember the group off hand.God we were so youg and good looking. There has to be a way of transfering the video to pictures,if so I'll post them here if it is possible.Remember willie frizzel on keyboards with you and the teen beats? I took the movies while there and I think It was George or Chuck Chittikin who I gave the camera to when we went up.Hope to hear from you soon.
Hey,lets get your ol mans CAD. and go to DETROIT DRAGWAY,remember that?(HOLY SHIT)

E-Mail me if you would like and we can exchange #'s."COUNT"

In case anyone hasen't heard by now, Noel Redding passed away on May 11, 2003. I was very saddened to hear the news. Noel & I shared a lot of good memories working together as part of "Road" after I left "Rare Earth". He was a great bass player and a very funny man. I will miss him. Ironically, I was just about to contact him to let him know about my new CD coming out when I heard the news of his passing. I have spoken to his manager but have yet to find out the cause of his passing. If anyone out there has heard about it, I would appreciate a response.
Thank you, Rod Richards

Hi Rod,

Here's a quote from Rolling Stone (May 13)

"Irish authorities say that Noel Redding, the British bassist best known for his late-Sixties work with Jimi Hendrix, likely died of "natural" causes. The fifty-seven-year-old was found Sunday at his home in County Cork.
"He hadn't been seen since Saturday and people were concerned about him," said Clonakilty-based sergeant Aidan Moynihan. "Some friends called, and the body was found in the bathroom. We're not investigating anything. The house was secure."

A formal post-mortem was scheduled for today."

I haven't been able to trace any report of the
findings of the autopsy.

Davie

Davie,
Thank you for posting the quote from Rolling Stone Magazine regarding Noel Reddings passing. I am surprised that any police entity would say death was by natural causes, prior to an autopsy. If you find out anything else, let me know.
Thanks a lot, Rod
