Hello Bobby Eli,

I just read just about the whole conversation I started on "Rap replacing Real Music"...and from what I've read, U only voiced your opinion like everyone else did. My son is N LA as we speak, working on a Rap video etc. I don't like some os his stuff he's put 2gether 4 the Video & Songs, but that's what he wants 2 do, I raised him well. The reason he can't get on,is because he doesn't use a lot of profanity etc. but he's still trying anyway(unfortunately I think he's rady 2 use the ugly words). I said that 2 say this~he knows he has female relativess, if he decides 2 use the B---ch or H-- words, then that's him, NOT talking about me.I Luv my son very much, but I don't have 2 agree on everything he does. Like I said B4, I'm not personal friends with these celebrities, I only know how I live, most of all I know how 2 live. NO, I'm N no way wealthy, but I don't get offended by what someone elses ideas, thoughts, or opinions R either(everyone has those). U haven't said or done anything wrong. We all know who we R, and what we R. I think some celebrities don't care what we think or say, as long as we support them by buying their items (gym shoes, CD's, Rims, clothes etc). If this is what caused U 2 leave the forum, there is such thing as freedom of speech here N america, so until further notice...U CAN TALK!!!

Bobby,
We need to hear from you. You've been here way too long to just want to leave. I think there is more going on here than meets the eye Bobby. I want to talk with you today. I'll call your Philly number. Hope you are there. Bobby, you are so much a part of Soulful Detroit. You have been here just about as long as me. We can work this out, whatever the problem is. We love you here Bobby.

Hi Guys and Gals of the forum:

I do appreciate the outpouring of love that the members of the forum have given me since my "sign off" last night.
I did not want to be the catalyst for any ongoing
"war" so to speak, its just that I have a certain way of expressing myself that may not be pallatable to "certain" individuals on this form.

Unfortunately in these contmporary times in which we live, being a "star" is not always predicated on sheer talent alone.
It has been a known fact that sometimes, female artists are taken advantage of and must perform certain sexual favors in return and yes, this is a sad state albeit pervasive.
So when I had mentioned that a certain "singer" may have performed one of these favors , in a somewhat graphic manner, it was misconstrued and taken out of context by some members of the forum
and its repercussions posted on this forum prompted me to bid adieu to my friends here
on the forum.Whereby I am not one for offending anyone on purpose, I thought that it would be better that I sign off.

B.E.

Bobby, I think you better talk this over with Paule 3 Shoes so he can kick your ass back here where you belong. We're musicians pal and have our own unique ways of getting our points across. Those that don't quite get it will just have to try and understand where we have been and what we have been through. Now let's call it all even OK? Please Bobby.

...but IF EVERYONE leave because SOMEONE is "offended", there will B NO ONE left on this FORUM. If the "OFFENDED" person left, then...
ok, it's like if U can't stand the heat N the kitchen, then leave...and this is no offenst 2 anyone.
No One knows (everything) about how, what gestures or favors certain (singers, rappers, actors, actresses. talk show hosts), celebrities do 2 make it where they want 2 B. This is Y WE R adults on this Forum. Mature enough 2 give it and take it back.
Eli, U have been here 2 long 2 let this happen. WE ALL STAND WITH U..can I get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th emotion and an Amen fron the Amen corner...?? Holla Back! What do U think about that Eli?...We R still your friends here, and we need your input...ok? ok? OK (and I'm a new person here). s m i l e

Eli - I read your post and I wasn't offended. What you said is nothing compared to what the rap artist say on recordings and videos. All of the sex scenes, gestures, innuendos, portrayed in the videos are far more sexually graphic and explicit than what you said.

If the "ladies" were offended, they should send letters to the recording companies who support the sex, and crime videos being fed to our children.

Bobby:
As I said to you on the phone and I will say it on the forum for the umpteenth time until I turn blue, with all of the legends who have left the earth recently (Cholly Atkins, Nina Simone, Earl King) this is the time when we really need them the most to help us maintain (or rebuild) a level of excellence that makes an entertainer/singer/musician rise above the pack. You - along with many others - are one who does that, even though it may leave you jaded at times about the industry and how the games are played.
You made your apologies and your peace. Now, come on out and let's have some fun again.
Regards,
Kevin Goins - KevGo

Fayette and all. I just spoke with Bobby. All is well. He was concerned that he offended some and Bobby being the type of guy he is is not comfortable with offending anyone. He does however have to say what is on his mind. Those of us that are fortunate enough to know Bobby know that he would never intentionally try and offend anyone. However the man has more experience in this business than most and he will pretty much call things as they are. That is the purpose of this forum. Welcome home Bobby.

Dear Stephanie,

I am trying to be an angel. I should try again to answer your thoughtful and much appreciated post.

It was very nice that you posted your awareness of me. I am discovering that nice people are actually worth while. You are a very nice person.

I want to thank you right now for your kind thought. I am not accustomed to kind expressions of decent feelings from the heart. This is because I am the mental equivalent of a professional wrestler, like Hulk Hogan.

You reached out to me with a post on the forum. I suppose that you have not seen my bad side, when I get drunk. I am drunk right now.

For some reason (I suspect that I finally am going to change my attitude: Emotional maturity is a good thing, not a bad thing) I feel like being nice.

Perhaps the rest of the soul music (besides what I like) is worth tolorating. Perhaps classical music is like precision gage blocks accurate to a millionth of an inch. Perhaps using a "Wescott" classic wood ruler with a razor blade is the most effective way to do millions of wonderful household loving expressions of artistic ideas.

I have been watching a lot of the TV show "Blind Date." I have learned a whole lot about how childish humans can act the fool and shoot themselves in the foot.

I finally can see that I cannot escape the fact that I must grow up and be a decent human being.

I thank you for your insight and kindness, and I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Mike McLean

Bobby Eli is my new best friend, because he introduced me to Annie. We are like to love birds. (Annie and me, that is!)

Bobby is a very smooth and diplomatic conversationalist who drew me out into a fantastic conversation about studio microphones, studio acoustic treatments, Motown history, and how I got out of going to Vietnam.

The dinner (for which I gladly paid, over his objections that he wanted to buy) was great, and I was very pleased that he finished up all his food. I hate waste. My Mother used to say that I should finish up all my dinner because little children were going hungry in Vietnam.

All in all, a fine visit. We will meet again at the Cass Cafe party.

STU
I went to Catholic school ALL of my life and I was a champion speller and I became a Motown and Philadelphia nut at the age of eight. I had a lot of friends but had more fun reading Joel Whitburn chart books and periodicals about music and listening to the radio and records all day long........

I had no idea that at the age of 40 I would actually get to talk to George Kerr and Jerry Corbetta and Bobby Eli and Dennis Coffey and so many others on the internet and yourself.
I was an A student in everything except math (well
algebra..basic math I was fine) IN college I won awards for public speaking and at that time I was a good singer I dont sing anymore but Im a great dancer almost as good as Michael Jackson no joke!!!!!!!

I wanted to be a journalist like our own Sue and then I wanted to become a songwriter but alas I didnt pursue those avenues but its never too late!!!!

I live in Maryland not far from Washington DC and I am learning how to walk again I was in an accident a few years ago but in a few months ill be 100 percent I work from home right now......
thats me
the (recuperating) Stubass Angel......
PS I never answered your question I was never in the principals office I was known as a goody goody but I did wind up there once because I was sick and I had to go in there to call my mother to pick me up and bring me home. The kids used to laugh at me bringing my Supremes records to school but not when Floy Joy was hot everybody was singing that on the playground...oh the memories,,

Bobby was kind enough to call me yesterday so I could say hello to Carl. We had a great brief little chat. Carl, the kettle is on anytime you choose to visit.

Top of pageBottom of page   By Carl Dixon/Market Street/Philadelphia (63.164.145.33) on Saturday, May 17, 2003 - 11:01 am:

My visit to Philadelphia could not have been better, yesterday. I met Bobby and we spent hours just chatting about the music, the history of it, eveything connected with the Philly sound, although at times, it was overwhelming. I now realise how little I know. The history of the music business here is awsom, and I can see why us Brits often want to come across here and pay our respects. Rabbits kept coming out of Bobby's hat - Weldon came around and surprised me, which was truly a thrill. I was speachless and again overwhelmed.

Weldon, thank you so much for taking the trouble to come and say hi! I feel so humble to be in your presence. And I do not think I would be out of order saying you have a fantastic voice and I cannot believe you sang out loud whilst we listened to some of your fantastic productions. Hearing you yesterday and witnessing you both doing what you do best, makes me feel so proud I love this music and worthy to be in your company. You have made an English man very happy. I am sure we will meet again it will be an honour to shake your hand once more.

And then.........I spoke to Ralph on the phone and we chatted for a minute or two about making a fresh pot of tea!! Ralph, You sound so young and amzingly different from what I expected. But, I still detect a Detroit accent in there somewhere.... Thank you Ralph.

Bobby kindly arranged for me to chat to others and I was in shock, I think. Bobby - thank you so much for looking after me yesterday. It was wonderful to make the trip to meet you. Now, I cannot wait for Sunday to meet you again!! This time I will video more and try and get a storyline to our pending musical pilgrimage to the city of brotherly love, New York and Detroit. Once again, a big thank you!

Hi Guys and Gals!!
Had a wonderful time yesterday.
First Carl D, David M and Harry D arrived at around 10:15 am and then Mike M. rang up and said that he and Annie were on their way.
It was great camerraderie all the way around and then Mike held court by telling some great stories about Motown and about his visit to Nashville.

Then the phone rang and it was Ralph T. on the line and he talked to everyone who was here.
Then Vonnie phoned and she spoke to all present
as well.

After Mike and Annie wew on their way, we piled into the car and went over to Weldon's house and shared yet more magical Motown anecdotes, listened to music and shared some photos.

Then we piled back into the car with Weldon in tow and went to the Empire restaurant for lunch and Carl, amazed at the "cost effectiveness" of the bill for five, was gracious and generous enough to foot the bill!

Next we stopped to say hello to Lee Andrews and we chatted with him for a spell.

Next we drove over to West Philly and to the former home of Harthon Records/Dynodynamic Productions, which is has been recently demolished and is a vacant lot,and then on to the former home of Del Val records/ Imperial Sound and took pics.

Next we took pics on the Plateau in faifmount Park with the Philly Skyline in the background.

Then we sauntered by to the house in which I grew up and had a look after which we headed off to the Uptown Theater and took pics and a local gent by the name of Arnie joined in the conversation.

Then it was off to the former siteof Virtue Studios which is now sadly a vacant lot.
Then we went over to the former home of Arctic/919 studios which is now a child day care center.

Next it was down to Sigma Sound and luckily employee Robin Whit was there and we went in but the studios were locked and he had no key so we chatted and took pics.

Then it was off to Philly International records and took pics outside and then around the corner to the original home of Cameo /Parkway and then the building where Pir was at first.

Then we dropped off Weldon and went back to my place for a while when Bunny Sigler came over.
Everyone had a blast listening to Bunny's "tales of the road"

Next it was off to the hme of Frank Bendinelli who ran Benn-X, Ben-Lee and Academy records and he warmly invited us in and shared some "Northern Tales"By that time everyone was quite knackered so I was droped off and the contingent headed back up to North Jersey to continue their mission today in NYC!

Oh by the was, Paulie 3 shoes could not make it as he had some"t'ings to take care of downtow, capice????

What a great day it was!!

Hi Carl,

I am in NYC right now but from what I can gather they were hoding a celebration at the new Constitution Hall and part of the "set" collapsed and slightly injured the mayor, and some other"dignitaries" zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!

Top of pageBottom of page   By Carl Dixon London (195.153.219.170) on Saturday, July 05, 2003 - 10:01 am:

I know! Our station is showing it every half hour. With that in mind, they are lucky to be alive. Our station is covering the sad loss of Barry White today as well. I am proud of them. Even with the bad news in Moscow right night now, they have still been paying respects the great Mr White every half our too.

Say Hi to Vonnie - I owe her a phone call, as I never rang her when we visited! Hi Vonnie!

Top of pageBottom of page   By Vonnie (152.163.252.68) on Saturday, July 05, 2003 - 01:01 pm:

Carl,

The Judge who was almost hit is Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day-O'Connor. The mayor of Philadelphia John Street was actually injured and his arm is in a sling.

Quite spectalcular Vonnie. The girls at the rear pulling the rope - their faces turned to shock as the pillar toppled. But, the fisrt time I saw it, I had no ides what was going to come into shot.
